Seat dealer stole my engine cover?

Keates, we know that's a lie. What would you want with something that doesn't have BMW on it?

Nice firm letter to the dealership's principle manager? and if they're an official Seat dealer then Seat UK as well ;)

Did you not notice the noise difference with it gone?

The diesels I have owned if you remove these covers they sound like a tractor. There is about 3 inches of sound deadening in them.

Yes, it is slightly louder but it is the tone of the engine seems more trebly than it was when it went in to the dealers.

Well that brings a whole new meaning to dealers being called stealers. Go back and ask them again, tell them it was there and no one else worked on the car apart from them.

I'd set the leasing company on the dealer. Loss of business from a big company should have them re-evaluating their response.

If they have large bins outside the garage I would be half temped to go by and have a look there in case they broke it and have chucked it away. Of course don't do this if you cant get to the bins easy enough.

Turning up the next day to the office and showing them a video of you finding the cover in there bin would be priceless. Or taking them to the bin showing them it as long as it hadn't been emptied between you finding it and turning up at the garage.

Are you 100% sure one was fitted? The last SEAT TDI I had ('06 2.0 PD 140) had no engine cover from the factory, it did have the mounting points for it. When I asked the question I was shown 2 other Leon's on the forecourt with the same. You also got a felt battery box and thinner paint than the rest of the VW range for your trouble.
