Hangovers

It'll be the Red Bull in the jaegerbombs causing all the damage. Only thing that ever gives me a hangover. It's horrific stuff.

Mixing your drinks is best. This is because the differing consistencies of alcohol help your body deal with it better. Never stick to the same drink.

It's all about staying hydrated. If you're dehydrated before hand you're fighting a losing battle. You can't simply hydrate an hour before you go out either. Ensure you're hydrated the few days leading up to your night out. I have 1ltr of water plus a nuun hydration tablet before I head out. On my return I have another litre of water plus a nuun hydration tab. I do not drink to excess however but am reasonably intoxicated.

Doing the above I never get the hangover headache, all I get is the hangover sick feeling which is dealt with by force feeding myself early on.

Best solution as mentioned though is simply don't drink!

Ah, this is why I'm glad my body tells me when I've had enough.

After about 3 pints my body / stomach says "NO MORE" and so I stop drinking beer and start drinking Coke / Water.

I wake up in the morning feeling right as rain :D

That said, mixing drinks has absolutely sod all effect on me. I'll happily sail through red wine, rum & coke, lager, beer etc and feel the same as I would if I was just ploughing through lager.

As others have said though, drink at the bare minimum a couple of glasses of water before heading for bed. If you're having a proper session, break it up and have a glass of water after a few drinks.

Yeah I've never had a problem with mixing drinks either, it just makes it harder to keep track of the quantity of alcohol consumed.

Best thing is to listen to your body, drink when you get thirsty, and make sure to eat food but not stuff yourself. No caffeine on the night out helps a lot, and don't skip breakfast in the morning.

I haven't had a drink in over 8 years, but I feel qualified to suggest this as the best hangover cure: Multi vitamins before you go out, leave a bottle of water on your pillow so blackout you won't forget to chug a bit of water when you collapse on your bed, and multi vits and water when you wake up (immediately, then go back to sleep). Failing that, start drinking again, but that didn't work out great for me so I can't recommend it.

I agree with the sentiment that the only way to reduce your hangover is to be younger. Drinking on a work night is becoming impossible without wrecking your performance the next day.

Drink SO much that you are still drunk when you wake up, that way you dont sleep right and end up jsut getting up really early in the morning and by that time the hangover stage only hits you in the afternoon.

Drink on Friday/Saturday only (in any amount) & sleep in if needed.

A good breakfast, lots of water the night before & no plans the day after is how I prepare for a night out/recovery.
