Dragon Age:inquisition

It's getting a bit crazy. I have a ps4 and a Wii u. so many games, so many to buy and it's not the cost that ultimately stops me the most, it's the time.. I'll see how I get on with gta v and I will be getting this, as I skipped ac unity for this as well, but got gta v and soon realised gta v is a huge game..

Played about 10 hours so far and I'm enjoying it. However is it just me or does this feel like an MMO to anyone else? The way the enemies pop around the map, certain events work by going to X or Y, checking off quest logs, fixed combat with difficulty based on mob levels and the use of limited number of potions/tonics. Oh and an item system taken straight from online games normal/rare/crafted etc.

Now I know you can argue that most open world RPG type games work this way to some degree, but it just sticks out so much in DA:I compared to other games. It's like it's been modelled on MMO's which I just find, not necessarily bad, but just strange. The only gripe I have so far, considering I'm only 10 hours in, is that it feels a bit impersonal compared to previous games. The characters are presented so quickly and are simply, just, 'there'. I guess this is because they've focussed so much on this over-world MMO type gameplay, but compared to previous Bioware games, where characters are given stage time and gradually open up, these guys just seem to exist.

But early days yet, hoping it expands the characters a bit more and fleshes out the main story.

Still enjoying the game but after 6 odd hours now I still have little idea on what I'm meant to be doing and how all the game mechanics work. I have either fallen asleep and missed bits or it just does not explain things ?

thank god its not just me :D

I think I'm going to start again as I have no idea what is going on now. I keep finding the green things and shutting them down and listening to people go on about the maker or something. I have no idea what missions are the main story.... :)

Wow, the scope of this game is MASSIVE! Compared to DA:O (Didn't play DA2 - but watched missus played it) This game is going to eat into my Destiny hours!

Thus far, loving the rogue dual dagger playstyle.

Yup it's a time eater alright after the first quest I found myself rounds around the dungeons in the chantiry looking for loot instead of progressing the story lol.

Combat is very da2 but hoping later on I will have to use the tactics camera more

When I completed da2 it made a save file that's only purpose I can see is to be used in the next da game. Now it's says you can't. Balls.

Would it really have been hard to have my save moved through PSN? I can't remember the decisions I made 2-3 years ago. Got rid of the games aswell so can't check either.

Restarted as a dual dagger rogue last night and suits me much better so far :) character looks better too! Glad i changed

Oh man, how can you re-roll away from - Scorpion chain (get over here!) into a mob, followed by a hefty boot to the face to knock them on their backside, and then a massive two handed ground slam with a vicious looking maul, straight onto the top of their head

Still, if you'd rather stab people in the bum cheeks with a letter opener and a fork, more power to you ;)

Haha :) i didnt give it much of a chance to be fair! Mainly it was my chars appearance tbat i wanted to change but also wanted to try rogue too :3

Personally I would take higher res and put up with minor frame rate dips but I'm used to playing at 15-20 FPS on my laptop so anything higher on my console is luxurious.

I'll be picking this up on the PS4 later today, don't normally bother reading those face off reviews but was having a look and watching the frame test video.

I found it pretty funny, in all honestly without the fps counter or the review telling me, I would both never have noticed the 1fps dips (or 1fps increases) on the PS4 version or the "lesser" texture and tessellation details on the xbox one, I doubt I would ever notice the difference between 1080p or 900p while playing either.

It all seems a bit pointless, now if one console was producing half the frame rate of the other or the graphics were clearly inferior by a long margin at just a glance then it might be worth nothing, but at the moment it seems like people enjoy pointing out the tiniest, unnoticeable flaw rather than sitting down and enjoying the game.
