Safety car would absolutely kill Rosberg now, let everyone close up and they'd pass him no problem. So safety car for any reason would now help Hamilton rather than hurt him.

At Canada the faster driver could push the slower driver.

He was pushing him, they were both lapping 0.5sec faster than the Williams.

If Hamilton had been in 2nd he would probably just do enough to stay in front of the Williams and nurse the car even more than normal, rather than risk Rosberg doing a Schumacher on him.

Even if Rosberg makes a mistake and loses place to Massa getting back in front is easy the pace these Mercedes have.
