Thinking of a mech keyboard, but a bit put off by the noise. With some O rings, how quiet are they compared to your typical dome or scissor keyboard?

Secondly, are any pre fitted with them to save me the chore?

it'll depend on which switch you're going for.
and o rings won't make that much a difference but it'll really change the feel of them.
your best bet would be to try/ borrow one

Cherry Red/Brown seem to be the quieter from what I can gather. I had a quick play with a Razer Blackwidow (these use their own switches I think?) and it was a little too clicky for me - not sure if o rings would help with that?

the whole point about the o rings is the bottoming out of the keys. On mine i put them on about a week ago now as i tend to hit keys quite hard which causes a very loud clack when they bottom out. Now it is much quieter. This is on brown switches and i find it a much better keyboard to use now

While I personally prefer the clack of the mechanical keyboards (Nostalgia), I have heard that adding certain O-rings helps lessen the noise they make but like someone mentioned above it depends on the type of switches inside it.

I tried using o-rings on red switches. Didn't like it. Keys feel more responsive and tactile without. Noise is worth living with imo. It essentially makes it feel more like a membrane keyboard, which defeats the purpose somewhat...

Just thought I'd update this. I picked up a K60 with Cherry Red switches.

Wasn't as noisy as I thought, but I picked up some O Rings anyway. It definitely dampens the noise somewhat, and makes the keys feel dampened. I don't think the overall noise has reduced, it's just a deeper/softer tone.

I can see where you're coming from, they might not be for everyone. I found a few of the keys a little unresponsive at first and wouldn't register a button press - but I think that was just the o ring settling in.

my reds are softer and don't bottom out anymore :)
Same here on my ozone strike pro. Still an audible clack in use but less noticeable now with the o rings installed. Pain to fit , (quite literally) as ozone dont include a keycap puller with the board.
