TV licence court summons

I've been beheaded twice now for not paying. That last time finally taught me I couldn't carry on avoiding it and I now buy one.

I would be interested to know how many people here actually watch live TV but do not pay for a licence? - Although I am not sure many would admit it through fear of being flamed.

Just out of curiosity, as I paid my licence this year when I bought my first house!

I'm not really sure why so many people are quick to jump on the bandwagon and laugh? would it not be treasonous if the BBC were accepting funding from a foreign power and in return working to undermine the UK government? why is the EU any different?

That said, you'd never win in court because the whole political class bar UKIP are pro EU anyway, you're more likely to get locked up for dissent.

The whole point of the licence fee is to protect the BBC’s political independence and impartiality by providing it with a source of funding that is outside the hands of governments and politicians. Thanks to this FoI response, we now learn that it has been going cap in hand to the EU for millions of pounds on the quiet over the last few years. Such outrageous flouting of the principles on which the BBC is based and funded will only promote cynicism about its political impartiality and lead to a loss of trust in the BBC’s independence.

The is nothing wrong with his usage of "firstly" as he correctly followed it with "secondly" and "thirdly". It's when you go from "firstly" to "second" it's bad/against convention.

Do you know the student who was here a while back trying to find a legal loophole to avoid doing the gardening? Seems like you'd be good buddies.

You don't have to pay the TVL even If you do watch live TV.
Its not a law its an act, totally different. They usually threaten you if you don't pay it though and it can end up in court for some really weird reason.
Would cost less to pay it than legal charges. Just pay the pedophiles there money and not get hassle....
If they come to your door just tell them to go away.
I don't pay for a TVL, when they come to my door I just shut the door on them.

If I had been drinking a drink and sat at a computer, I would possibly of spat/sprayed said drink over my keyboard when I read your post.

Very funny! *doffs cap*

I regret posting this now, or atleast using the word treason........

Don't worry, this guy came along and somehow got his brain even more mixed up than your small one:

Wow. You really are the kind of person I hope nobody I know ever becomes.

When you go to court and they ask if you "understand the charges" simply tell them "no I do not stand under your law". Always remember you are not their fiction!

I believe I read somewhere that the BBC are in breach of their charter for getting funds from the EU and so us paying for a TV licence is treason? Is this true or should we just pay the 150 quid for the licence.

Well, who will win idiot of the day, stay tuned!
