Turn your lights on!

Mine don't.. HID's are perfectly fine if aimed correctly. I can see things for a large distance no one has yet to flash me

But are yours factory fit? As in, completely OEM/factory option, rather than you retro-fitting the correct headlight units at a later date?

This annoys me more than anything. Some lights are just too bright and it tends to be on newer cars.

While newer cars do tend to be really bright they are usually projectors so they don't dazzle me as much.

I found that the old Ford Ka's, are dazzling. I'm pretty sure they either off or on high beams.

It's rarely foggy enough to actually warrant using fog lights though, I find.

More often than not you can still easily see cars over 200m away and people have their fogs on.

The other week there was light fog, but you could still see cars half a mile ahead (I checked) people were blinding me with their unnecessary rear fog lights in a constant flow of traffic. Grrrr

Slight mist in the distance, GET THE FOGS ON AND THE AIR SIREN OUT

It's really unnecessary.

Regardless of how much or little if there's fog My Lights are going on I'd rather be safe than sorry!

I'm with you, I drive around with main beam on all the time and all my lights on. I've also fitted some giant LED light bars to the front and rear of my car so I can turn them on the moment it gets dusky.

Better safe than sorry ;)

Just don't drive, better safe than sorry.

Oh... you're one of them...

I swear most people on the road don't know what their various lights are for.

Rear fog lights are to give people approaching from a distance advance warning you are there, since your normal rear lights may be obscured by the fog and so less visible from a distance.

If there's someone just behind you, they can already see you and they're not needed, so turn them off unless you want a mirror full of high beam. ;)

Sorry morning me missed off OEM bit.

No i fitted mine myself H7r's in reflectors but like the DS3 and an older renault (cant remember model) they use HID's in reflectors with a anti glare strip on the bulb. As do mine

Mot station is cool with it. says there smart and work

I don't know about where you live but 90% of my fellow cyclists here in Stoke also like to dress in the all black uniform with no lights.

Yes, I regularly experience this. I have a 1000 lumen headlight for the country roads and yet the number of times ninja cyclists have appeared out of the shadowy fog only a few metres away from me is scary.

Well after some reading I found this:

You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 236).

So I'll improve my behavior with fog lights.

I bet you have them all on including the interior ones. Do you put fairy lights on at this time of year as well? :p

No interior Lights are a menace to society in general they cause annoying reflections on the inside of the windscreen and as such are kept off at all times... except when opening the doors of the car as I can't stop them form turning on and off automatically

Over the past week or so I've seen 3 cars driving around with their brake lights permanently on. I don't understand how they're even managing this - and it's definitely the brake lights as all 3 lights, even the centre one is on too. I actually witnessed one of them slowing down to a stop for some lights then move off all without the brake lights turning off at all.

The first time I saw it I put it down to dodgy electrics but after the second and third I'm convinced people are just somehow resting their foot ever so slightly on the brake pedal. Idiots.

Well it would be pretty expensive to need new pads and discs every few weeks, but if that's what they want!

Noticed many of the Lexus and BMW round here have the brake light fault. even checked one to see if they were auto and were using the left foot on the brake, it was a manual.

there seems to be a pandemic of one headlighted cars round these parts. every 5th-ish car has at least 1 bulb out.
if the local plod wanted to make some money they could just do a road block/check on any busy road with a fixed penalty fine for driving an unroadworthy vehicle. they'd pay for everything in a single day of checks! much more road safety focused than speed cameras.
