Upgrading a 5yr old PC

Hi,
As title my car racing games are struggling a bit and the newer games im not sure some of my components are up to it.
Im hoping just to upgrade the CPU and mobo and keep the memory and graphics car.
But this is why ive joined to get the advice i need, i did fill a online form in with my spec and as for costings etc but i didn't get a reply.

A brief summery of my current PC,

I7 950
Sabertooth X58
Corsair DDR3 6GB PC3 10700
GTX 250
W7 32bit

Any help on this would be appreciated,

Hi,

Well first thing I can see is your GFX card is well behind the times.

Thats what I would do first.


What case do you have? PSU?

What is your budget?

Overclock your existing CPU too.

Add an SSD.

Just shows what i know i thought it would be the other parts,
Just took the side of my case as i could'nt remember.
Corsair 800W Gold
Case Antec ive took a photo to post as i don't anymore info.
2x Raptor HD i think there called anyway faster than normal.
It is on a partial overclock its a set progresive one in the bios it was bought overclocked from Overclockers but ive lost the settings.
I thought £500 would do it as i only seem to use the PC in winter for gaming.

Thanks that's most helpfull i was totaly wrong.
The case is 9000 IIRC virtually the same as the 9002
That GFX card is cheap compared to what i paid about 5 years ago so i guess my existing one is worthless?
W7 64bit no good?

W7 64bit is ok, Win8.1 is just newer (and I swear is quicker).

Do you mean an Antec 900? one where you can take HDD cages out (may have to as some of these cards are long).

As for that R9 290/GTX970 vs what you have now, well tech has moved on massively, it would not surprise me if they were 10+ times faster than what you have now.

900 rings a bell looks the same as the 902 apart from the top slightly different.
The card i have now is a twin and huge and you would struggle to get 4 HD in as it would get in the way. ok with the 2 i have.

Looks like a trip to Stoke over xmas when im off to get a new card.:D
