Correct. Not with Samsung, official firmware is official. To confirm, I will not void my warranty by flashing a BTU firmware using Odin?
Does note 4 use dual band wifi, 2.4ghz 5ghz, i think it does.
Yes it does and can switch between them to maintain a stable connection.

You'll have to worry about charging your Note4 a LOT less now compared to older phones. My one just hit 3 days of battery life with 4hours on screen time at 2%. The thing is a beast. So,
getting tired of iOS and wanting to move back to Andriod (had SIII) before. I did play around with a 4 for a few minutes in a store and I did like what I saw. I was planning on either this or the Nexus 6 originally (preferred stock andriod) but seeing as that phone is so huge, without any kind of pen, and the 5 is a bit old now, so I figure I'm set on the 4.
Any other things to help me in my swayed decision, or things to perhaps consider when getting into it?
I have a three branded phone also and am still on the J firmware. I have rooted. Is there anyway to get the update?
Kies is saying im on the latest version.
manually update the firmware with Odin, quick and easy, did mine last night, followed by a factory reset.
if you want a stock unbranded ROM have a look here.
