Thought I'd bump this as I've just moved into a place with Hyperoptic and couldn't resist going for the 1Gbps service ;)

Struggling to find a speedtest that can actually utilise all the bandwidth!

Ho-lee-*** that is fast

That's an FTP download I just tried - it's not even using half of the connection though!

Pings are nice and low too:

--- bbc.co.uk ping statistics ---
21 packets transmitted, 21 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 2.161/2.309/2.732/0.116 ms

Holy mother.

even that 100mb connection is great with that upload! It really winds me up we're still seeing 10:1 D/U ratios.

2:1 or 1:1 is so nice.

gigabit is just not fair.

I've regularly seen 80-95MB/s sustained download rates via Steam on my 1Gbps Hyperoptic connection, the only other sites that I've managed to see similar download speeds are Microsoft (MSDN ISOs) and NVidia for drivers (200-300MB file, so the download is finished within a few seconds).

One of my friends has had the 1Gb service installed it's ridiculously fast. However, you seem to have to live in a flat/apparment block which is a shame. However, it would be too expensive for them to do private installs I guess owing to them not having access to the entire network.

This was the case with my building, it was a new build last year, so I guess Hyper just got the contract/rights to install all their infrastructure during the build phase. They then come in at the end and fire everything up.

It is a bit of shame because they are hands down the best ISP I've used. I guess it is a bit of a catch 22 though, because one of the reasons they are so good is due to the fact that it's all their own cabling etc and not BT's.

Would be great if someone made a FAQ in the first couple of posts as the same questions are being asked again and again.

Has anyone looked at their privacy policy?
Will they sell my browsing habits to third party marketing companies?

I think if there customer base was as big as skys and BT, I Bet there service wouldn't be as good as it is now. But i'm just GREEN!!!

Got an email from Hyperoptic after I registered interest on their website. The asked for details of the building manager etc, so I gave it. Anyone been through this process? Any ideas of how long from the registering interest phase to it being installed? I assume it depends on the amount of people that actually emailed...

it depends, in my case, it takes almost 9 months... but our waiting is coming to an end, the engineers have already started installation and given us a provisional start date of 14th Oct! Can't wait!

Received flyers in the post from HO this week (roughly 100 dwellings in total on the site - its a converted university into apartments) - it was asking if residents would be interested in HO to be installed in the development. I called HO and they said that they already had a 40% response rate - that was after 2 days!. Has anybody had a similar process in their developments and been successful?

Is anyone with Hyperoptic using a different router and also using the VoIP phone line? If so, what do you need if the router doesn't have VoIP capabilities built-in? A VoIP gateway of some sort?

I don't use the Hyperoptic router and have their phone service. You can either connect the Hyperhub behind your new router to use for VoIP as you do at the moment or you can extract the login details and use your own SIP phone which is what I do.

Great news! Hyperoptic is finally coming, with even the cheapest 20MB option being 3 times faster than the current BT/Sky set up, at 2/3rds the price.

Bad news! I don't live there any more! :(

Add insult to injury, I have gone from 80MB Virgin to 6MB Sky in a recent, forced move. :( :(

So, im getting this sometime soon (preordered).

However, looks like I might prefer a wireless connection from the router to my desktop to avoid unnecessary cabling around the walls.

What solution do I need to ensure that I can download/upload at full whack from my desktop without a drop in speed due to the wireless connection?

Went from 125MB to 11MB when I moved, and looks like Fibre isn't coming to our flat as its direct to the exchange from what I can tell :(

My Cousin who's moved into a flat in London asked me what internet was good, told me her suppliers were BT or this new HyperOptic people....
