Well done... I am very impressed, and would never dream of attempting to 'build' something like that.

Thanks Montala :) It's using the same techniques as my Sim Racing rig. Posted the picture previously (unintentional alliteration there), but this should show the type of style/finish I'm expecting when complete (futuristic military is what I use to try and describe it as):



It does need triple screens though ...

Lol, what is this mad gaming room you have :eek: its awesome mate.

So what you got in there and what powers it all? And are you buying another screen for this chair?
 
HNNNNNG @ news of no wipe! A bit bored in these out of the way systems now, killing NPCs for their bounty only stays exciting for so long, now I hunger for serious pvp/warzone stuff. I'm assuming this is more towards Sol, where the Federation and Empire lines meet on the galaxy map? I should be heading that way anyway as I have almost 100k in empire bounties I can't cash as it stands :/

What I meant to ask there is, where is the action at? I would like to see players regularly, where I currently am (around Miki) the traffic reports never reach double digits...

I've not paid much attention to warzones myself but I think there is a war in SOL at the moment as well as Eranin (?). The Hengist Duval succession event starts on release day as well, there was stuff about it in the last newsletter.

The Emperor Is A Sick Man

Arguably the most powerful person in the galaxy, Emperor Hengist Duval, is sick.

He has ruled the Empire now for 67 years since his coronation in 3233 following the death of his father, Hesketh Duval.

Emperor Hengist is only 118, born only a week before the death of his grandfather, Hender Saik Duval. Some say Hender’s spirit had already transferred to Hengist at that time.

The Duval Imperial line has been unbroken for almost a thousand years. There have been power struggles in the past, but the usurpers have been successfully dealt with behind closed doors.

This time is different.

Hengist has been not involved himself in politics for a long time, relying on his Chancellor, Senator Blaine and has taken a laissez faire attitude towards a handful of increasingly powerful and ambitious Senators whilst Harold, the current heir, quickly made a name for himself as a ****less playboy.

The warlike Senator Denton Patreus, last seen trying to destabilise the Eranin system during the conflict surrounding its 30th Anniversary of Independence from the Federation, continues his manipulative power-broking in the galaxy at large.

The preposterously rich Senator Zemina Torval is using her slaver corporation supporters and personal fleet of Majestic-class Interdictors to suppress revolts and to further her ambitions.

Commentators expect others to show their hand, too.

Much like in Imperial Rome on ancient Earth, Senators determine the tax rates of their supporters and both Patreus and Torval have become hugely popular back home as they have each used their huge wealth to lower taxation to zero.

There is a real prospect of the next Emperor not being a Duval. And the bitter fight for succession is about to spill out into the open.

Meanwhile, the Federation and Alliance of Independent Systems are watching with keen interest.

On 16 December, the first shockwaves from this battle for the Imperial succession will finally hit the galaxy at large.

How you choose to respond will have a direct bearing on the ultimate outcome.

I'll be buying [yet another] screen for this and also a Rift at some point in the future.

I have a few things in the room. All DIY except the desk which is very heavily modified.

Things can get a bit out of hand when working on projects though, particularly complex ones. Before I tidied up:



The desktop, sim rig and arcade cabinet are powered from a single PC. I wrote a simple batch script to swap between the displays, change the wallpaper/sound input or fire up a front-end. Just click a button and it's good to go. My GTX 680 died recently so am saving up to by a 9 series although not sure whether it will be a 970 or 980 yet. It'll have to wait a bit yet though. CPU is a 2600k oc'ed.
 
What perks? it's essentially an offline game 99.9% of the time, you're only competing with yourselves really. Honestly I've flown for about 8 hours in the past week and never encountered a single other person and that's in open play using the pirate start.
 
Yeh, I had to laugh at somebody moaning about everything having been already discovered by the time us pre-orders get access on the 16th, I think that they are struggling to comprehend how many 400 billion really is :)

Add to this if you want to travel hundreds of light years to meet up with a friend? You have to sit at your PC pressing "H" a few hundred times over numerous hours... so people won't bother!
