Shocking CIA torture report

Wasn't the mushed food up the arse for hunger strikers though not humiliation? which makes sense given the problem of feeding someone who can bite/cause damage to themselves or others with head and neck.

Not sure. From what I remember they strapped them into chairs and forced feeding tubes up their nose, down the back of their throats and into their stomach.

Im surprised anyone is surprised. Do you really think the western world is better than that? We just like to pretend we are.

Yes, I agree. First world is always in the right and better then everyone else.

So is the EU going to impose sanctions on the USA for breaching international law or is that just for countries that try to free themselves from the western controlled world financial system?

I love to see that, but USA is the worlds police, can't touch them.

But it happened to people who weren't terrorists and one of them died, how is America better than the people they're against when they're killing and torturing innocents?

Crap happens.

But also, can't really comment on that case since no one knows the facts but a old quote comes to mind, there is no smoke without fire.

Nail / head.
People being tortured tend to say whatever they think you want to hear, in a means to stop the torture lol

This is true, everyone breaks. But the difference is that if you lying then you going to get found out when they check or act on the information they gave them unlike the old days where they would torture you for a confession and then hang you.

I don't believe that for a second.

Well it's there in black and white in the Senate report, who have looked into this in detail. Tbh I've heard this before - prior to around 2003 time, the FBI were conducting the interrogations of suspects at Guantanamo Bay using legal methods and getting good results, but then GWB decided for no real reason that the CIA should do it instead.

I dont think food up the backside would do much good for hunger strikes other than maybe eating to stop it happening again.
You absorb nutrients quickly through your backside and it goes straight into the system instead of being able to throw it up later.
It would keep them alive, avoiding many problems with feeding from "the top".

oh ok. maybe it evolved as a method later on or for particularly troublesome prisoners? or maybe I'm entirely wrong but I'm sure I read a earlier report saying it was hunger strikers

Do you really believe everything written in the report as a fact? Remember this is the CIA that allowed that report to be written.

I'm taking that report and anything else about the CIA with a pinch of salt.

The level of ignorance on display is absolutely staggering

Please, you are the ignorant one as well as being naive beyond common sense.

Tell me honestly, are you really shocked at this report? Did you not believe that these things happened? Maybe you deny that the holocaust even happened too?

I believe it ahead of unsubstantiated claims made by the CIA - like for example that the use of torture thwarted a 9/11 style attack on London, which this report says is nonsense.

Holocaust denial? What kind of analogy is that?

No people did not know this happened. At most they could have suspected it, and unlike the CIA you can't act on something you suspect. That is why so many attempts were made to stop this.

It is not that surprising, but how does that make it okay?

It'll be the usual. A quick finger wag before pointing it back to one of the countries you mention.

Yes, people know, everyone know, like Edrof commented, these deplorable acts have been happening since the dawn of time and likely will still happen well into the future.

I never said it was okay, don't assume things please.

You have any evidence it is happening now in the UK? You believe it is happening now in the UK?

Then why bring up being surprised as some kind of criticism of people? What does it have to do with anything?
