So they killed rare commodities, either it's bugged right now or it's intended..either way it's poor money (Actually works out less than an inter-system route that gives me 1k/t profit)
so right now I'm stuck in a worthless Type-7, shouldn't of sold my ASP! :(

It's been so long since I used a joystick (quickshot on my amiga probably!) that I don't know if I can use my right hand. Bit of an expensive experiment too if I find I can't use it - might just stick with kb/mouse :)

If you play FPS using a mouse in your right hand you probably have the motor control necessary to use a joystick right handed too. Maybe order a Thrustmaster HOTAS X from somewhere with a liberal returns policy, unpack it carefully and give it a try :) If you get on with it you can either keep it or go for something more fully featured.

E:D definitely benefits from a stick in my opinion.

Just buy it back...? Unless you've splashed credits everywhere else then surely they're all still tied up in your Type-7?

The Thrustmaster HOTAS typically sells on eBay for around the price you can buy it new, it's a bit crazy but it means you should be looking at a maximum loss of a tenner if you do decide it really isn't for you!

Also consider using two sticks instead of the throttle and stick - I've seen people doing this and it apparently works quite well.

you can always try a joypad i played for a while like that:D

After the pud :(? I'm still in work. You suck.

:edit: I actually like the way there was a huge crash out of the rare commodities, it's how the economy should be in my opinion. By the time people hear about things through the grapevine, it's too late. It's the same with trading on the stockmarket - to truly play it you need to have inside information and keep your ear to the ground all the time. It would be a very, verrrrrrry boring game if rare commodities stayed a cash cow forever, or even a period longer than a week or two!

I'm getting really tempted by this - and by one of those hotas sticks to play it with. This may be a daft question but the pictures of the sticks I've seen suggest they're not suitable for left-handers?

Try a pair of thrustmaster T1600m's. It seems to be the southpaw's solution of choice. The sticks grips are reversible so you end up with one in each hand, choose which is axis control and which is directional thrust :) you end up with 2 throttles as well of course.

Yeah I could go down that route and might have to, the only thing is finding the T6 shields for ASP again, had a sweet little set up in that thing.. but I'll see what happens to rares.

on a plus note I can earn 350k every 5-8mins going from one station to another station in the same system and selling Tea/superconductors it's just really boring with 0 threat at all (Literally have not been interdicted once in over 2hs)

Not enjoying this new wear and tear mechanic ... it's costing me a fortune to repair my Cobra. Really hope FD reconsider, it's immersion killing at its current level.

I didnt bother repairing it and hasnt seemed to make any difference to the functions of my ship.

I'm really struggling to find a decent trade run, any tips for looking for clusters of systems/economy types that can help me? Also how do you guys keep track of prices?

Tip: DONT PAY WEAR AND TEAR! IT IS LITERALLY JUST YOUR PAINTJOB, Pressing repair button next to fuel button repairs ALL modules to full and they won't degrade unless you take your ship past its heat limit or get fired on etc.

Actually, Michael Brookes has already stated that wear and tear degrades hull integrity, so it's more than just cosmetic. Could be an issue if your shields get shot down ...

You will soon get used to it.
