Hopefully this will signal the end of cinemas and we can finally start watching films on release in the comfort of our own homes. (I'm not very hopeful).

9 times out of 10, I'd only go on a Wednesday, but only a handful of films need to be seen on the big screen these days, and the lag between cinema release and bluray is shrinking all the time, so now I'm happy to watch most stuff at home on my tv.

I'd never watch a proper film on my tablet though, maybe a comedy on a long-haul flight, but nothing that is visually driven.

What a silly thing to say, so you don't like going to the Cinema...then don't go, but why would you want to remove the experience from the millions who love going to the Cinema.

And as for people saying they can go on Weds again, I've never had any more problems with people talking etc going on Weds than any other day.

Then again even my Unlimited card experience has worsened with the introduction of allocated seating and their premium chair nonsense. Booking a seat in advance gives a load of people excuse to arrive late once the film has started and then you have latecomers who've no idea where they're supposed to sit so get their phones out and shove the light on. That being said I get more than enough value out of it currently so will continue to fork out the £17 or so; 42 films this year.

Where can I get unlimited viewing for £17 a year , that seems like a crazy good deal.
Does it include 3D films as well ?

EDIT - ahh its £16.40 a month, not such a good deal after all, unless you can make a film a week

as for the Orange Wednesdays
Showcase do massive discounts with their Insider thingy

Its not quite 2 for 1 but I think somewhere around 60% of the price on a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday, we normally use that as weekends are more convernient for us, I can't see this affecting me to be honest.

EE: "Viewing habits have changed."

Reality: "Changed to the point where it's costing us too much money, and isn't bringing in any new custom."

6 months from now: Worse deal along the same lines, because customers have left and that's all they could get approval from management for to try and coax them back.

When I was a student, this would have been devastating. Not so much now, but, if you use this regularly then it probably makes going for an Orange/EE tariff significantly better than going elsewhere... which is not going to be the case any longer.

I don't. But do you prefer to take the bus or drive a car? If you need to pop to the corner shop to get a pint of milk (pop to the loo) do you prefer your car to be waiting outside or for the bus to carry on regardless?

Well I doubt EE removing it is going to make the tarriffs any cheaper.

If you go to the cinema twice a month on a Wednesday (which as a Student was probably on the lower side of estimates...) then you're potentially saving anywhere from £12-£18 per month with this versus a tariff with a different provider.

Shame that they're removing this, as it use to be a good reason to hit the cinemas (and Pizza Express) during the week.
Unfortunately i doubt the replacement offers will be anywhere near as good.

Majority of people don't have the funds nor space available to produce a cinema (IMAX is impossible) experience at home, so i'm not quite sure why anyone would want to take away an amazing experience and a great form of socialising all because they're unable to socially interact with others and would rather hermit themselves away

What with their joke prices, we very rarely go to the cinema, and if we do, its 2 for 1. That industry has an amazing capacity to shoot itself in the foot then whine like a baby about how unfair it is.

I was originally being sensationalist, we don't have nearly enough daily mail style threads on these forums. But anyway lets continue.

Majority of people are not geeky enough to know what's special about IMAX, nor why it is desirable. Many people have a crappy surround sound system though to give them a elevated experience over TV sound. The majority of people have more comfortable seating arrangements in their lounge and large screens are inexpensive. And ah yes, that really sociable experience of sitting in a dark room for a couple of hours where you can't talk or do anything other then look forward and smell the randomer in front of you eating nachos.
