Its still a damn ugly motor, deal or no deal, I've not warmed to this or the previous 1'er in terms of looks!

But that asde, the whole point of buying diesel is to do lots of miles, 10k doesnt exactly strike me as enough.

hmm i'm actually half tempted to phone them on this for the wife, if the figures are right seems to make much better sense than buying or am I missing something  I cant imagine buying one keeping it for two years and not loosing at least 10k on resale?

Exactly why this is a good deal.. It might be worth £24k in 2 years at trade prices, but if you bought one outright and sold it on in 2 years we, as private owners, will lose more because of the difference between trade and private values.

A PCP would cost a hell of a lot more..

If you want one, its a hell of a deal

not bad deal, but the original M135i and recently Golf 7R deals were much better :D , still would not consider a diesel unless it is absolutely necessary :)

Trade prices would be a hell of a lot lower than 24k, unless you mean retail?

I quite like the looks of these....

I don't follow the motor world at all so I'm sure someone more informed can pitch in. But after reading about the Paris mayor wanting to outlaw diesels, could it trigger something similar in the UK and will they start to be phased out?

If so, could a lease be safer deal in case resale value on diesels starts to fall over the next few years?

Diesel is absolutely necessary when it can be had for zero cost to myself personally ;)

Nobody forces you to trade in your car after two years. If it is on any kind of purchase scheme the car can be sold privately. Retail value is not used to calculate the depreciated cost

These deals are worked out on the difference between what the lease co can purchase for vs trade price with their interest added, the exact same way a pcp is calculated - get a good enough discount from new and it will work out exactly the same unless it is on a horrendous rate.

Get a good enough discount privately and it will work out....exactly the same if not slightly better depending on finance rates using the same two year example.

Incredibly unlikely, this is likely to be achieved by stricter and stricter emissions standards applied to new cars. Given the government is entirely responsible for the size of the UK diesel fleet by pushing everyone towards them through basing all forms of vehicle taxation on CO2 emissions, it cannot suddenly turn around and ban them, just like it didn't ban existing cars without catalytic converters for example.

How much were they?

Around £200-250 , before the leasegate scandal broke and prices for the 7R shot-up, the early M135i's around £200 before word got around and prices went up... , Luckly i got in the R before the lease deal's dried up :)
