I tend to invalidate the warranty, forget when I purchased it so how long the warranty is etc etc. I guess if it was less than a year I'd start to question, but it's all about the product capabilities for me.

(I guess I care how long stuff lasts, so for something like an SSD e.g. 3d v-nand is of interest, though it's not the actual warranty I care about, just that it should last me longer.)

Always about the performance and bang for buck first :)

Warranty does come into consideration, but it's always secondary to the above.
 
Is it to much to ask for both? I wouldn't buy a turd with a great warranty, its still just a turd. Similarly I'd be put of buying a great product with a 3 month warranty where you could only return to the Antarctic on a 4 month turn-around.

Slight exaggerations there, but you get the idea. If I had to pick one though I'd go with 'Customer A'. With a good product you don't usually need the warranty.
 
What use is a 5 year warranty on a HD 5970 lol

If one of mine konked out and needed replacing I would get back a card with 1gb of VRAM and performance that was entry level if that.:D
 
I went with the merit, ability and features but if something costing £300 had terrible customer service I would think about it, I just hope when I buy things that I won't need warranty.
 
A for me, don't really care about the warranty as I usually change it before it expires so a standard 1yr warranty is fine with me. Any longer is a bonus, that goes for any component.

If something is going to fail it usually does it immediately or within the first year anyway.

Much of my kit gets recycled, so a good warranty is very helpful, and I have had to make use of some at times.

I LEAN towards Column A, bang for buck so to speak, but wouldn't want a product with awful aftercare/warranty either.

Gibbo - can you add an 'in the middle' option to the poll?
 
They all come with a 1 year warranty, thats enough for me. In my experience it ether never works, goes wrong in a week or lasts till it fills up with dust and the heatsink fan stops going round :)

No because there is no in the middle option in reality.
 
A. EU gives us 6 years anyway. There's no reason a card should fail in that 6 years so upon inspection it'll be a component that has failed and as that isn't expected you'll get a replacement anyway. All a warranty does is save some ball ache.
 
Even though it is a good idea, there is a fundemental problem with the question.
Becuase of the nature of the product, in this case graphics cards from various manufacturers, you very often get the exaxct same product with the same features. The only differrence being the warranty.
Take the 980 fereance design for example, both the OCUK one and the Zotech one are £455.99 with identical clock speeds. The only difference is one has 3 years warranty and the othe 5 years, at this point said warranty has become a feature.

Having said that in everything else where the warranty isnt realy classed as a feature it wouldnt be a deciding factor in my buying decision.
 
They is loads, I would say most in-fact.. While results around OCUK will show a different story.
PC gaming not everyone runs the high end GPU, most people will still be running couple gens older than they is running the latest.

That poll is way off the mark with what I said feller.. You've made it fit your own agenda.

You put "Warranty means everything" in the poll, I didn't say that in my post, nor was I referring to that. What I said and meant was that a longer warranty can, and in most cases, determine whether you make the purchase of a certain brand (this goes across the board with all electrical items).

I've read countless times over the years on here (and other tech forums) were a person is stuck with deciding on a few GPUs (or even other PC components tbh) and they post asking for advice. The majority of the time, it always comes down to looking at the warranty for them. Manufacturers know this and it's why they have used warranties to entice potential customers over to them, away from the competition. Not only does a longer warranty show that the brand partner has full confidence in their product(s), but it also helps the potential customer with making that final decision on a few GPUs and when it comes to selling it on in the future.

The ironic thing is, in relation to that poll, is that I recently bought a Galax Infinity that comes with a 2 year warranty. I looked at the warranty good and hard though, whilst making the decision and only for it having another guarantee on top (coil whine), which incidentally is what swayed me... ;) I took the plunge of a shorter warranty.

This poll falls flat on it's face for the purpose that it was created for.

If there's a card for a similar price with a longer warranty/better CS then I'll generally go for that.

Also depends how much I'm paying.
If I bought a card for £1500 I wouldn't go for a 2 year warranty.
