I think you can at 25, you will struggle but doable if you have a group of 5 level 29s or higher. Though not much point doing raid, even with full VoG raid you will be 30 but you can buy vanguard armour which will get level 31. Only reason to do VoG is for people wanting ascendant shards and energy.

you need to hammer iron banner for the next few days I think you need 140 wins, make sure you use the buff (costs one mote of light and lasts 12 hours) and wear the shader and cloak (extra xp). then buy what you can from saladin.
then hammer vanguard marks for whatever you need afterwards and buy those parts.
that way your guaranteed to hit level 31.
forget the raid until the above is complete
So less than a week most have hit 31.
Next step 32 - which is basically grinding the raid... Repeatedly ... And then what?
I'm not one to moan usually but I feel completely ripped off after spending £20.
The vanilla game has its (many) flaws but I can't really complain as I got plenty of hours out of it.
I was hoping for something refreshing, perhaps some fixes or a different approach to keep me interested from the expansion. What we actually got was basically a raid. To top of it off they've put in mechanisms to make it as long as possible to get from 31-32 just to demonstrate how little there is.
It's great that some are you are still enjoying it. But frankly I'm baffled that you are all willing to play the raid again ... And again .... And again ......
Would we be playing this if there were a decent alternative multiplayer game out?

Simple answer: No. I fully expected to play destiny until CoD came out then Destiny would be for when I wanted some PvE fun. I have wondered previously whether Destiny has been bolstered by CoD not being as successful as normal. There are things I really enjoy about Destiny but equally as many that annoy me.
I really hope today is a happy xur day. I'm hoping for an upgrade for helm of Saint 14 and a nice new gjallarhorn or patience and time to buy. I'm wondering as well if there might be something like santa hats similar to when they did pumpkin heads for Halloween.
I will be around from 1430 today, so anyone fancy Nightfall / Weekly, give me a shout. My Level 30 Hunter still needs to do them.
As for Xur, I am hoping there's something good as over the week, I seem to have hoarded a boat load of Strange Coins and Motes.

As soon as borderlands comes out for the new consoles i'll likely never get the destiny disc out again. As it stands, i enjoy the gameplay and the visuals, levelling frustrations aside its actually a pretty solid first person shooter. I do feel ripped off with the dlc though (despite only paying £22-23 for the expansion pass) and it feels like they're slowly making their game worse by adding too many currencies and levelling limits and making more changes to the game than george lucas does to his films.
I fully expect that come house of wolves this game will be a chaotic mess with half the content utterly redundant.
That is a reason why I wasn't bothered with getting to level 32 because knowing them, with the DLC, EVERYONE instantly have access to level above 'last raid gear' via Vendors.
Now I *need* to do Hard Raid in Janunary because I got the Husk and I want to level it to something fancy.
This game is crack. You know you shouldn't but you still go back to it.
e: Also, I said I will be weaning off Destiny when Dragon Age comes out. Now Dragon Age is still in my Xbox after Act One and Destiny is still my most played. AHHHH!

I can't believe that despite all the patches and DLC so far, that you still cannot skip cut scenes. I'm no coder but it can't be difficult to implement.
I agree with all of this. Has Borderlands been announced for current gen? I will be all over that if/when it comes out.

Well I will scrub my current P&T for the new one and upgrade MIDA. Other than that.... Meh! No point in upgrading plan C when I have Murmur..
Assuming the "helmet" means helmet engram I will burn my motes on trying to get the arachnic helmet for my hunter.
I enjoyed the Borderlands games, but the core gameplay isn't as good as Destiny, and although the story and voice acting is entertaining first time, it really *really* starts to grate by the 3rd playthrough.
Destiny has it's faults but ultimately the core FPS gameplay is good enough to keep me playing. One of my favourite things is just running patrols on the Moon or Venus (I'm probably a bit weird).
I'm a little bit disappointed with the new raid. Particularly Crota....after playing it for a good few hours now. The only actual skill required is having the Gjallahorn dude and sword-bearer time their attacks. All everyone else has to do is shoot stuff. Atheon is a much better fight imo, and Templar, and Gorgons, and Oracles.....
I think I will be playing less until the next DLC, just jumping onto CE once a week for shards....there's not a lot else worth doing.
