Bin lorry crashes into shoppers in Glasgow: 6 feared dead

Horrendous, given the reports have to suspect this wasn't just an accident :(

Headline: - Islamic State Hijack a Bin Lorry and take out pedestrians....

More likely, Bin lorry driver has heart attack, due to most vehicles of this type having automatic transmissions, he probably stood on the throttle and off it went.

Tragic accident.

Wow I wonder if the driver survived? Imagine how awful you would feel if you killed a load of people because you were having a heart attack :(

Dreadful, just dreadful.

Bad at any time, but happening at Xmas just seems to make it worse.

Yeah have to say from what we currently know it's all pointing towards tragic accident.

This happened right in front of a friends wife. She is hysterical. Says she was at least 10 that were dead. Sounds like a horrific accident.

Sorry to to hear that, I think no matter how desensitised I feel from stuff I see on the internet, if I were to witness something like this in person it would be a very different story.

BBC are saying that it hit people outside the gallery of modern art before continuing up Queen St and crashing into the millenium hotel.
That's an awful long way to go whist presumably out of control :(

I have no idea the distance between those places but a bin lorry would weigh a fair amount. It could go for a fair while. I'm surprised it didn't hit anything more solid before mounting the pavement though :(.

You must be reading something else?

There is absolutely nothing other suggesting that it was anything but an accident

there is nothing suggesting the amount of people dead either, yet this thread says 6 feared and news reports saying several dead.

no one with an exact number. pure speculation

Eyewitness: Lorry 'flattened bodies' on pavement

Posted at 16:33

Anjan Luthra witnessed the crash. He told BBC News: "I work in George Square and had nipped out for lunch, and was in the queue in Greggs. All of a sudden I heard this screaming and quite a consistent racket.

"I ran out of the store and right directly across from me, I was just watching a very very heavy bin lorry just flatten bodies on the pavement. It was driving along the pavement and taking everything along with it, and then it went across the street.

"Immediately people started calling 999, and started directing traffic.

"There were two bodies right in the centre of the T-junction who were getting CPR mouth-to-mouth and there were some bodies that were so fatally injured that you couldn't really do anything."
