Just following up. I took mine into the store last week and the replaced the screen there and then, took about twenty minutes. :)

Apple couldn't give a crap about you, the environment or their employees. They're a business, they exist to make money.

I'm a shareholder just for the record and whilst I am pleased that Apple are doing so well, they should be doing more for their employees. I fear I'm in the minority of shareholders however.

Petagon/Foxcon etc. should be doing more for their employee's.

A lot of people seem to think this sort of thing is limited to tech also. I wonder how many people wonder about how the cheap clothes they are wearing were made etc.

It happens with every market, but Apple and Tim Cook have said again and again how they have sorted all the issues when its not true. If there not going to fix things they should keep quite, no one hounds any other company about these things cause they don't claim to fix it.

Does anyone remember what 2nd hand 5s's were selling for before the 6 launch?

I desperately need a new phone but am not very impressed with any android phones; the 6 seems to be the best of the bunch but would want to trade it in sometime next year. I would like to get an idea of the depreciation hit you take.

Yes exactly the point...Apple advertising how much of an ethical company they are when it's all just a facade.

Hate to drag it up again but o well...

Soooo a few months later what has happened to bendgate?

You think with the amount of flames in here there would be a lot more reported cases. Or are people still waiting on photos :D

Had my 6 since launch, and had it in the pockets of some fairly tight jeans a lot ;) no bending here

had mine 6 + now for almost an month, and no bendgate here but their again got mine in a case with an glass protection on. am really loving the 6+ charged mine 4 day's ago and am still got 69% left on the battery.
don't know what all the fuss is about

'Bend gate' was pure click bait - as soon as interest (and clicks) waned there was no profit to be made from deliberately bending them.

Always amusing to see the anti-Apple brigade get manipulated into frothing rages by YouTube 'entrepreneurs'. LOL

http://oneofthenine.com/

Its not a as big as the media made it out to be but its an issue and it affects some users, given how no one really knows about this site I would put the number much higher.

The tests also showed that the iPhone 5/5s where twice as strong as the 6 so it takes half the force to bend it.

As I said all along, it was never an issue, just some wild anti-Apple chat on launch that had an effect on a tiny percentage

Every new design of iPhone has this massive 'omg end of the world!!' 'fault' that about 3 people moan about and it gets blown all out of proportion.

iPhone 4 = Apparently everyone was losing signal on them (never happened to me)
iPhone 5 = Apparently if you sneezed on them they scuffed (never happened to me)
iPhone 6/6+ = Apparently they bend quicker than Uri Geller in a cutlery drawer (hasn't happened to me so far)

Because apple are the big dog when it comes to mobiles at the moment every launch becomes a massive media frenzy and every little thing gets blown up massively for publicity. No doubt HTC, Samsung, Microsoft etc all get batches of dodgy phones but they probably get 1% of the publicity any apple one does.

The first 2 are actual true, theres a reason they dropped the black iPhone 5 its scuffed like a mofo, I've yet to meet someone with it that doesn't have a device full of them. The iPhone 4 also had signal issues, there weren't uncommon in other metal device and Apple did fix the design with the iPhone 4s. There are all real issue its just the amount if effects gets distorted.

Apple in talks with the UK banks about rolling out Apple Pay here soon.

Macrumors link

It seems the UK banks are worried about how much data Apple gets access too though. Seems odd, I thought one of the major benefits of this system was how little Apple actually had access to compared to some of the other contactless solutions and how they're trying to become the 'Privacy company'.

Is this just the banks being over cautious as essentially the 'card numbers' for each customer will be stored by apple or is it because they get more data than that? Because if its just the card numbers, I'm not too worried considering the required use of touch ID.

I've used it a few times in the pub over here and the supermarket and it's really good. I can't wait to start using it more regularly.

Edit
From Apple:

Apple Pay is also designed to protect your personal information. Apple Pay doesn't collect any transaction information that can be tied back to you. Payment transactions are between you, the merchant, and your bank.

The key part there is 'that can be tied back to you'. They're still collecting transaction data that's of interest to them. Lots of valuable data that can be monetised.
