I got loads of lovely things. It's my mums mission in life to buy me anything and everything that has a black greyhound on it, because I own a black greyhound. So the shop that sold tax disc holders really saw her coming :/ also quite scary how little notice she takes of current affairs too, as she didn't realise until dad told her they are not required any more.

I didn't get anything I didn't want this year, for once!
Although the girlfriend did give me the remaining socks (I like socks okay!) from my birthday over a month ago...
Her excuse is they didn't fit in the box at the time! Terrible! And then to use it as a Christmas present, even worse!

I received a wood carving book from the wife xmas morning, my mum gave me a second hand copy 2 hours later.
She also bought me a paperback Terry Pratchett book that she had given me in hardback last year.
She's returned both and I can choose what to replace them with
oh and every year I get a stupid sign from the brother in law and his wife. "I love cats", "house rules" etc...never hung one up. Their gifts are usually rubbish, I also got a "build a beating heart" from them this year. At least normally I get a bag of sweets etc but not this year

I think part of it is not be ungrateful but the fact I put in quite a lot of effort thinking about presents for other people, only to get something crap in return.
E.g. Work secret santa. I got someone a band tshirt that was on sale that I know they like, she loved it (at least she said she did)

Clearly they think you need a shave.
The lynx shower gel in the clear bottles are always great. The stuff in the standard black bottles is pretty cack though.
I got everything and more that I wanted for Christmas. Although, I didn't get lynx, I got dove man this year happy days.I would say not but you can tell when someone has been cheap.
One of the best gifts I received off someone was from my mates girlfriend for my birthday. Its a simple plain mug with a rock climbing hold bolted on for the handle. Probably quite cheap but she has put some thought into it and taken an interest on what I like - coffee and rock climbing
Maybe someone was going for that buying me a breathaliser and 4 shot glasses
vibrating razor?
Gillette fusion proglide POWER. Has a little button that makes it vibrate. I can't see what possible benefit it could add to a standard razor tbh. It'll never get used by me as i look weird with a clean shave. usually just use my hair clippers without a guard for trimming my face.

I got **** all, literally, talk about ungrateful. At least someone cares enough to even give you a gift even if you are spoilt and don't like it.

Why not go the whole hog and just ask them to give you money if all you care about is the item and not the thought that counts........

Yes, as did most of my family. My nan wanted a blanket which i got her, she liked some clothes so my mum got them for my cousins to get her (its harder buying for an 84 year old) dad got a drill from me and my mum which he told my mum he wanted, cousin got a shirt from me as he wanted a nice double cuffed shirt for work etc etc.
Personally I would be fine giving / receiving money. But then its pointless giving anything if you give someone £20 and they give you £20 in return
