*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

So that's where they put the rest of the game everyone was expecting from the start!!

Really does add to the idea that they had a full game but chopped bits out to turn into dlc. Enemy names are already on the disc, the 3rd subclass slot is already waiting. This isnt content created after the disc was released.

It's not quite the same though. I very much doubt they had all the DLC content completed, ready to ship in time for the original release and then decided to hold it back just to make more money from it. Like any large project, there would have been an original, larger scope, then as time started running out, parts of the game would've been prioritised over others. I don't doubt that large parts of the DLC are already in place but I expect it's all very unpolished, untested, and needing a lot of work.

I definitely don't mind paying £17.50 per DLC pack for a game that I've had almost 400 hours of enjoyment out of. Other than Football Manager and, maybe, FIFA, it's been the biggest gaming bargain I've had in that regard.

I dont mind if its an expansion like World of Warcraft which you pay 34 pounds or less and for 2 years you know you will be getting extra content for the original price you paid. But this is getting ridiculous and people were complaining in the past that the existence of DLC is a bad thing yet Activision is doing it and gets away with it.

I've never played World of Warcraft, but I'm pretty sure it's not a simple case of paying £34 for DLC for 2 years. Isn't there a £10 per month subscription fee as well? So, in actual fact, over 2 years you're paying £274!? If I was paying a subscription fee for Destiny, I too would be expecting regular, free updates!

Well somebody at Bungie/Activision wanted to get sacked and never employed anywhere else!

I just hope they bring the drops on VoG hard to at least 331 exotics...would be nice if the raid legendaries were buffed to keep it worth playing....but meh.

Still, got my Gjally upgraded and hunter up to 30 now...double VoG hard runs now until I get the bloody vex and fatebringer.

I've got a complete set of L31 warlock armour sat around now....it's tempting to level up another one...but really do I need to be playing 3 characters?

That Comet image which is a bigger content game, i am so worried they will ask full price for it.

You have a huge point which i completely neglected there as when i was playing wow i had in mind, its 2 pints worth per month :P

I assume it was taken quick sneaky photo but considering the quality of camera phones these days that is a truely terrible photo.

Interestingly, Destiny has a game picture, the DLC doesn't. Does that mean Comet is going to be disc based?

The last one is Prophet of Gods, can't work out the Vex one either though, looks like Vex Poo :p

It says Vex Pog, Bungie are bringing back that wonderful 90's game. Just imagine a Vex slammer :D

It would have been nice for VoG to drop the new legendaries. VoG is being run mostly by people who didn't get one or two guns and for upgrading vanguard armour. It still surprises me that they have effectively made VoG redundant.

If you have the armour why not, takes a few hours to rank up to 20. Once level 30/31 you don't really have to play with the character unless you want to. Since ranking up my hunter I have really only played with my first warlock and hunter. Running Atheon CP over the weekend though it was nice to run it 3 times.

It kinda is. Don't get me wrong, i've put a lot of hours into this and enjoyed playing a game with so may friends online, but everyone said the first expansion packs weren't likely to be finished yet and not on the disc except for some placeholder names in the database. Turns out there was entire levels in the background and some of the enemies could even be spawned in.

You forget that they are in this entirely to make money. Of course they would hold back sections if they thought they could get away with charging more for it later, especially if they had pressure from activision to stick to the deadlines.

How do you work out there was entire levels in the background? The DLC runs off the existing world maps but some of it is through doors that were previously closed - how do you know the DLC level was there before the DLC patch? or that enemies could even be spawned?

Edit: I am not disagreeing with you, I have played far too many hours on Destiny so have had my money's worth but for the contect the DLC was overpriced. I am just curious if this is your opinon that the levels were there or have seen some evidence on youtube or another forum catergorically showing the levels etc. existed.

If we have to pay for this destiny comet I'm out. I've been ripped off for the full game and dlc already.

Ofcourse we will, if they made up pay for TDB and House of Wolves then Comet is no way going to be free.

I really don't see why people are getting so worked up about this.. obviously there will be more DLCs to pay for, nothing is going to be free. If you don't want to pay for it then don't, simples.

Despite all the issues and flaws people complain about I think it's a great game well put together. I'm sometimes frustrated by lack of content, farming, RNG issues, Cheese, etc etc, but it's a bargain for the amount of enjoyment and time I've spent on it. As others have said, it's a lot cheaper than WoWs monthly subscription, and when played with a group of mates (real life mates or forum mates) it's great fun.

lolwut?

of course you will need to pay for it, that also goes for any future DLC for destiny and expansion packs

as for ripped off, your constantly playing the game, if you didn't like it you wouldn't be playing it. i bet you have had more than your moneys worth out of it.

it was £50 for the game plus DLC off the USA store, future dlc's will be about $20 (£15) which is a lot of money but well worth it.

some guy on here has spent like £3000 (not an exaggeration either) on fifa points for fifa. a game which gets reset every year and they have to spend another £3000 the next year to get all the top players again.

Because i glitched my way into it and ran around in the dark below levels before the dark below patch was released, as did many other people.

Having the world geometry in place != Finished. Things were dropped prior to release, they always are. No one knows what was canned last minute and what wasn't, outside of Bungle. If you are one of these conspiracy theory types then I suggest just not playing the game any more.

Destiny was always going to be episodic. There will be tons of stuff in the codebase that isn't used yet, depending on what was and wasn't moved out of scope for the initial release.

I only bought the dlc because it's half price. I have had my monies worth out of it. I never said I haven't. i also never said I don't like the game. Where are you coming up with this? The content you get isn't worth the price you pay. Which I've learned the hard way. The only reason I go on now is to do the nightfall and bits of the raids. I'm at the point where I'm getting pretty fed up of it. I only managed the eris bounties and then found myself bored with nothing else to do. The dlc is worth it to you, but not to me. I was hoping for longer missions and a better raid. Which we didn't get Imo.

Who knows, the next expansion might be amazing and I could change my mind but the comet dlc would have to be a very fair price. No way will I pay anywhere near £40 for it.

Good idea, i doubt their business model so i shouldn't play. I love how your logic works there.

Or even close to it. £15 is the max it should cost yet I don't really know if I'd be happy paying that.

I think you'll be looking at £30 again. I don't see how they can price it any less than that considering the price points they've sold the game and the current DLC at.

Indeed. I've really enjoyed the social aspect to the game but I really feel the dlc was very poor(except for the strike) and didn't add enough content. One month later and im level 32 with pretty much nothing to do. I can understand how people will continue to enjoy the game but I feel like I've hit a wall. Maybe the next dlc will change that. It could be full of great missions and an amazing strike.
