What do you pay for your broadband?

Personal question, I know, but I'm not sure if I'm paying too much for mine (?)

I have a separate line upstairs in my room (living with parents), they have Sky broadband, telephone, tv package, whatever downstairs.

I'm on BT, I've never plugged in a phone, just purely use it for the internet.

My latest bill came to £32.30 and I'm getting these speeds:

Does this seem a bit too much for what I'm getting?

Cheers :)

Yes, that's far too much. You can either find another deal with a different ISP or if you're out of contract with BT, phone them up and negotiate a lower rate.

I moved house a few months ago, so I think the contract got renewed when they had to fit in the line upstairs, etc.

Virgin just put my speed up from 30 to 50 for no extra charge. I currently pay ~£31 for that, normal TV package and phone line. For a pound a day, I don't mind.

I'm assuming that includes line rental? If you take off line rental (~£16) then the rate you're paying isn't extortionate, but it is high. As mentioned above, Plusnet are worth looking at, plus you could save a bit on line rental if you pay it all at once (line rental saver, you pay 12 months up front and get a bit of a discount)

BT unlimited broadband (non fibre) 8mb dl 1mb ul £8.85pm inc BTsport
+ line rental @ £169.90 in one payment for 12 months

= £23 per month over all, but after getting over the one off fee for the line rental i only have to pay £8.85pm which is handy as i like to keep my monthly outgoings as low as possable

This makes me think about my situation. I get poorer results than you OP, and my bill has recently risen to around £20 (8mb / less than 0.45mb upload).

Too much.

Line + Sky BB + Sky Family Extra i think it is called... that's all entertainment channels + HD + Boxsets = 40 p/m

At my current premisis nothing as its included with the rent

At my old place where my server is and where I pay part of the bill £25 which includes vat for a 80/20 ratio FTTC circuit provided by the people I used to work for. So its an uncapped, unregulated (no site blocking) circuit
