I almost rage quit yesterday.....almost!
I had just purchased a Asp, i decided to try my hand at bounty hunting so fitted it out with some basic weapons and went to the nearest nav point. Before i could even get to the nav point i got an interdiction by a player in a Viper (who was wanted) he started firing at me, at this point i said to him that i had no cargo....no response, so having a basic Asp i decided to get the hell out of dodge because he had a well equiped Viper. He continued to interdict me a further 3 times before i managed to get back to the nearest star port with 15% left on my ship!!
Needless to say i'm now playing in solo mode, until i can upgrade my Asp!
harsh.
Player interactions in this game are very interesting, I did lots of PVP in the beta when thing were a bit simpler and just about everybody was fighting at resource extraction points in basic ships with basic weapons and modules.
Now that we have things like FSD interdictors and a much wider array of ships and equipment, there seems to be quite a high level of opportunism, for example if I fly around in a basic ship - even with no cargo, I seem to get almost immediately interdicted, followed/attacked/harassed by human players, whereas - when I'm in my combat rigged Python, I get left well alone 100% of the time..
With human players you have to be on your guard, thankfully the vast majority of them only have any combat experience with killing NPCs so they suck at actual PVP, and quite often are actually easier than NPCs because they're overly aggressive.
If you get a decent loadout for the ASP, you should be able to make a mess of any Viper as the ASP had brilliant hardpoint spacing (lots of pulse lasers, or multicannons should do the trick)
