I almost rage quit yesterday.....almost!

I had just purchased a Asp, i decided to try my hand at bounty hunting so fitted it out with some basic weapons and went to the nearest nav point. Before i could even get to the nav point i got an interdiction by a player in a Viper (who was wanted) he started firing at me, at this point i said to him that i had no cargo....no response, so having a basic Asp i decided to get the hell out of dodge because he had a well equiped Viper. He continued to interdict me a further 3 times before i managed to get back to the nearest star port with 15% left on my ship!!

Needless to say i'm now playing in solo mode, until i can upgrade my Asp!

harsh.

Player interactions in this game are very interesting, I did lots of PVP in the beta when thing were a bit simpler and just about everybody was fighting at resource extraction points in basic ships with basic weapons and modules.

Now that we have things like FSD interdictors and a much wider array of ships and equipment, there seems to be quite a high level of opportunism, for example if I fly around in a basic ship - even with no cargo, I seem to get almost immediately interdicted, followed/attacked/harassed by human players, whereas - when I'm in my combat rigged Python, I get left well alone 100% of the time..

With human players you have to be on your guard, thankfully the vast majority of them only have any combat experience with killing NPCs so they suck at actual PVP, and quite often are actually easier than NPCs because they're overly aggressive.

If you get a decent loadout for the ASP, you should be able to make a mess of any Viper as the ASP had brilliant hardpoint spacing (lots of pulse lasers, or multicannons should do the trick)

It has been the 1st time i've had an interdiction by a human player...i thought he was a pirate hence my coomunication to him that i had no cargo....what can a player get out of attacking random players that aren't wanted? Does it just increase their bounty?

I've since made a million credits (in trading rares) i make 600k + 100k on each run that i do, so i think i'll stick to doing that until i can max out my Asp.

I still see a lot of lag in Open Play Supercruise.

My Hypercruise "movie" is always jerky at the start too, and I have seen others get that on YouTube. Not sure if it's intentional.

Yea i get the movie bit in solo too but worse in online and yea supercruise is the main issue in open :( almost unbareable compared to solo, maybe i need to drop settings to play online? Or is it network related?

You probably need the FSD that costs a million or so, i can remember exactly the cost.

As Paradiso has said, you'll need the top end FSD for that sort of jump.

Started with the Cobra MK III and experienced similar problems, have just been doing trade runs the last few days, when on and last night upgraded the FSD, which meant I could go straight to Bunda rather than having to do the 2 jumps to get there.

Oh, started off in Jameson Memorial (Shinrarta Dezhra).

I think I've removed the Discovery Scanner and down sized my Fuel Tank to save a little weight. Currently have space for 26T of Cargo.

Just plan on grinding my current trade run and hopefully looking at another system to add to it to speed things up.

Elite Shipyard

Hi,

Just came across this: -

Elite Shipyard

Simple web-based tool to experiment with out fittings and calculate jump ranges, buy/rebuy costs, etc.

Might be of use to people.

Regards

Apologies if I've misread your question but I think you might not have a problem. Is one of the jumps you need to do more than 9 or 10 ly apart? As long as you have a fuel scoop to replenish your fuel (or money to buy it at a port) you can jump as often as you like. So the 133ly rare run may actually be 20 separate jumps of less than 8ly each.
Having a better drive will just mean you'd have to do 10 jumps with a 14ly range.

As you've got a cobra I assume you've done lots of jumping so maybe I have missed your problem.

Just done a quick check using some online tools (not used them before and a popular rare route can be done with a jump range of 10.9 so looks like 11 is the goal to go for. Tried removing shields and weapons to get that last few light years out of it?

Does the ingame text and voice chat work?

MaxzUK and I were just talking about that - and not via the in-game chat!

Over the last couple of weeks I have tried several times to start a text chat with online chums, but have only ever got a "it was not possible to contact XXX" response.

Not tried the voice chat yet.
