You should be okay with 2x 280Xs on a 750W PSU, just don't go overboard on the clocks etc

Also the RM PSUs aren't nearly as good as the EVGA PSUs, as the internals are poor compared to SuperFlower made PSUs (worse capacitors etc). They aren't bad PSUs, just not as good. Corsair support is good though

In the end, you/he will be looking at the case pretty much any time you sit at the desk so may as well go for something you like the look of :)

Cheers..

I am looking at the PSU.
The more I look the less I like the Antec.
The more I look the more I want to drop the Antec !!!!

Looking at the Corsair RM 550

This would be sufficient for one top end GPU.

£84

The Corsair RM 850 is on a special at the mo

The EVGA 750

Reads as a good quality PSU and the info on the cable lengths are good.

For me I would rather keep one of these PSU's.
So with this in mind I will show:

Take 9
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - OEM £179.99

1 x EVGA SuperNova G2 750W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £89.99

1 x Corsair Carbide 330R Silent Mid Tower Case - Black (CC-9011024-WW) £69.95
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLRED38G2400HC11CDC01) £65.99

1 x Pioneer 24x Internal DVR-221LBK DVD Rewriter - OEM £14.99
Total : £676.86 (includes shipping : ).

Over budget !!!!

But....

In my mind this only leaves one upgrade needed. the GPU.

Everything is here and all good quality, long lasting bits. Even if in two years ( guessing ) a second GPU is thrown into the mix ?

Spend it now then no need to spend again ( apart from GPU )

I will show him and get his thoughts.

Are you sure he needs the DVD drive?

I was gob smacked when I first read your thread at the amount you were about to spend on a PSU for what is a mid range PC! pleased you've seen the light and both your last build and stulids are excellent :)

An SSD is one of the biggest boosts you can give your PC, I like Samsungs mostly because of their Magician software and support.

Good Spec thread.

This one

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-168-SA

Roughly £13 more than the Crucial
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-028-CR

Adds more over the budget.

Worth it ?

NO, you wont notice any difference.

A fast SSD is a fast SSD and already saturates the SATAIII bandwidth.

Nice info..

I know NOTHING about them. About time I did !!!

Funny..

My son is hearing talk of his mate new bits and is asking about how to make his rig better. I said SSD !
Plus a 1TB HDD should do him.
He goes "mmmmmmmmmmm" in a I have £150 to spend...:D

Like stulid said you won't notice the difference in speed, forget benchmarks in real world usage you'd be hard pressed to notice the difference between any SSD. I currently have a 1TB Samsung 840 Evo in my main rig and a 256GB Crucial M4 in my HTPC and speed wise I can't tell the difference but I do like the flexibility and features that come with the Samsungs magician software and for me £13 extra is well worth it :)

Also if it's any help I bought a Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply for my main rig which includes a GTX 970 and a i7-4790K CPU and i've had no problems at all, seems a decent PSU to me :)

Feels good getting all this help.

This is all you need, I changed the RAM mainly for aesthetics as the other RAM is 'too' red in my eyes compared to the other components, but that's just me :p.

Lovely case as Stulid pointed out, so show it off with some white lights!
Also if your friend must have a DVD drive, external is the way.

Also if you're thinking of a GPU upgrade in the future, drop the PSU down to a gold 550, and get a better single card, saves the hassle and saves money now.

I'll just leave a comment about the CX600 V2.

The "600W" label is deceiving as it only outputs 480W on the 12v rail, which is on a par with what the EVGA 500B outputs. The latter is cheaper, and its total output is rated for 40C temps whereas the CX600 V2's is rated for 30C.

I also noticed that on their website the CX600 V2 is no longer described as Bronze either. Just 80+. Naughty.

/end little rant by noting that I do like other Corsair products. PSU department needs to pull up their socks and get competitive again, or quit their non-premium PSUs altogether to prevent customers unknowingly buying those inferior products when there are superior options available for same or less cost.

I'm aware there are people who've had low or average standard PSUs for years without a hitch, luckily for them. And I hope your unit serves you well @ Pumaz. But the point is really if better options exist for the money, or even less money, and they do.

@ tnx, stick with SuperFlower/EVGA Gold, as you have the budget for it.

Well I didn't know that about the Corsair PSU, I've always had corsair PSU's (corsair fan in general) never spent more than £60 and never had a problem but now I've been enlightened I'll do more research in future. I'll keep my fingers crossed and hang on to it but won't recomend them in future!

Thanks for the info Danny75 :)

Thanks for taking the time. I was struggeling to keep it under £600 and sorry but yours is higher.

Cheers though.

Urrr, sorry but for me, I do not like stuff like that, with lights etc etc. I like plain simple subtle things.
I will show the Lad and get his opinion.
I need to be seeing him. I work nights, this leaves me with not much time during the week and frankly a bit knackered. So I have told him I will only build it at the weekend.
I don't want to be building it without giving it my full 100% attention. So ordering Wednesday would mean it gets processed and dispatched Thursday and delivered Friday then built Saturday.
His dad was a bit worried about me building it and the monies involved.
I said you can get one built professionally. Spend £600 but only end up with £400 worth of bits after they take their cut.

On wednesday the weekly deals change again, so check back that there is nothing better again for the money.
