Just thought I'd give you guys a heads up, people (including myself) seem to be getting fraudulent transactions on the cards used on boomerang rentals.

They did come out on a reddit thread saying that it was unlikely them but it seems they've taken their site down in the meantime.

Hmm I was scammed yesterday for £397 and I know Wyrdo had the same issue. We both have used boomerang recently.

I've just checked my bank, the only dodgy transaction I can see is a 0.00 Apple store transaction, but that might have been when I downloaded an app the other day?

Thanks for the heads up though I will keep an eye on my account.

I had one the same as well. Lloyds said its the card being registered and likely further payments would follow. I only had £30 from O2 slough taken in two payments and Lloyds have refunded and cancelled my card.

Bit of a pain but it happens these days. Stupid Boomerang...

I had a £1 transaction for ocado and Halifax said it would have been a tester to see if the card worked.

Mine was the same, they do it to test to see if your card is still active so you may want to cancel the card.

I had a fraudulent transaction on Thursday night. Capital One spotted it and gave me a text asking if I had spent £100+. Turns out it was for Admiral Insurance which definitely wasn't me. Also another £0.00 for Apple. All sorted out now.

Now I see this thread and I now know how they got my details.

Whilst I've not had any unauthorised activity on my linked card, I did have notice last night that there was an attempt to access my Yahoo email account that I use for Boomerang (unsuccessful thankfully as I have separate passwords).
This very rarely happens, so it could be linked I suppose. Hmm, not good.

Had the exact same problem last week and that's subbing to Boomerang last month for their free trial.

I assumed it was one of those scenarios where there's a 16 digit sequencer dialling O2 top-up, as it was £30 and a £20, plus a PSI Bike order from US at around £6ish.

I have cancelled my Boomerang before the incident. If they are compromised, then it could be the source of my card fraud last week.

Well that's interesting. I had a call last Monday saying that my card had possibly been compromised and they would send me a new one. Someone had tried to top up a vodaphone mobile but they rejected the transaction. Its odd though as I had just received my new card and only used it once. The card on my Boomerang account was my old one that is just about to expire.

Statement from Boomerang....

Following an initial enquiry at the end of last week, we have had a number of customers raise concerns regarding fraudulent payment attempts on their card details that are also registered with us.
We are fully investigating this issue and have temporarily removed access to our website while this continues.
We have contacted our Payment Provider Sagepay and our Merchant Bank World Pay and neither have any reported concerns relating to us.
However, please be assured we are treating this with the utmost urgency and can provide more information on our findings as they become available.
If you have any concerns, please contact your card issuer.
We apologise for any inconvenience the removal of our site has caused and thank you for your patience as we continue to investigate further.

Ouch, hate it when these companies don't admit their mess ups. Good luck sorting things out :(

Guess it might be worth all of us changing the passwords linked to the email account used to sign up for boomerang.

I heard about this on Saturday, checked my account and found £120 worth of fraudulent transactions.

Oh that could explain then. I signed up for a free trial a couple of weeks ago. Really need to cancel it actually as I never used it. But I did have a call from RBS fraud office at the weekend. Had 4 smallish transactions come out, they tried to buy vouchers.

I'm waiting for their website to come back live as apparently, despite cancelling the account, you need to wipe your card details on there manually.

Not that it's any further issue for me as I now have a new card.

Just find it funny I get more information from forum and / or Reddit than the actual company. Poor PR.
