I am currently with bt with a bt infinity 2 package but if i have to call there technical helpline again i might cry and i am paying a lot more then is really acceptable for example there new customer price is 350 for the year for infinity 2 and weekend calls and i am currently paying 650 a year (with anytime) about 40%+ more.

So as you can expect i am not a happy camper so is plusnet good? or can someone recommened another isp with good english customer support and a decent price with 75mb fiber (i only expect to get the same speed)

They're owned by BT but treated as a separate entity with different pricing. Fibre wise all ISP's are mostly the same in that they all use Openreach equipment, only the support and pricing depends on the ISP.

Been great for me too. My experience with support has been very good (although fault was a BT cabinet, not them :))

No traffic shaping or capping, they're great. Only downside I would say is the router, it's fine if you have only a basic setup at home but if you have a lot of devices using the internet, it's worth investing into a better router.

Switched to them last week. Paying half of what I was when I was with BT, and the service is basically no different. I get exactly the same speeds. Can't complain. It works, and I don't get capped. Thats all I want.
Wait times on the phone are a little annoying though. 10+ mins most of the time.

do they traffic shaping usenet etc?

Yes they do, however it's on your traffic only.

For example. If you have P2P running, then start a VOIP call, then VOIP data will have priority over the P2P.

Another example, if people in your house are watching YouTube / NetFlix. If you start a computer game the traffic management will prioritise your game traffic, and slow the YouTube / NetFlix etc.

Just ordered fibre myself with plusnet as we have only just got fibre at my exchange so far everything has been good with good price for new customer. It's cheaper by quite a bit than basic broadband with Sky. What's the issue with the plusnet router ?

Apparently the plusnet router is a bit dated. It only has 10/100 ports as well so any sort of gigabit network traffic would need a switch to be used.

I'm going to be starting with plus net soon and am considering which router to go with. Ideally one box would be ideal.

I'm wondering if a BT HH5 would be the way forward.
