No, never played EVE, but I heard it wasn't kind. A part of me likes the complexity and the fact it has a steep learning curve and your hand isn't being held every step of the way... but by god it's painful!

I got the class 4A drive this morning. I can now just 20.6LY laden, up from just over 13. Should make the rare runs a lot quicker :)

I'm trying to work out what ship I should be aiming for next. I quite like the Federal Dropship. Think that would be a good ship for a trader? I want something that has a good cargo capacity, but can also handle itself in a fight.

Is there a beginners guide to this game anywhere? Actually, I don't mean beginners, I mean for fully retarded monkeys. Imagine you were teaching a monkey to play ED, what resources would you direct them to? I find it the most inaccessible, illogical and unfriendly game ever. My head physically hurts. Please help.

First, I would advise you to embrace the difficulty. Think of it as a simulation (even though it really isn't... sound in space? Newtonian physics as a control toggle? Anyway). So start out small and take your time. Do the tutorials up to the one where you shoot a few canisters in the asteroid field, and then maybe do 'em again for good measure. Have a little experiment, you could cargo scoop those canisters, then jettison them and then shoot them. All of this will be getting you familiar with ship-handling and some of the buttons and targeting you'll need.
Have a crack at some of the combat tutorials if you like, but you can also save those for later if it's intimidating. Go into the game itself and have a look on the bulletin board for some really easy transit missions, scrap hauling or something. There might not be any such missions if you're unlucky! In which case, try flying to another station in the system and see if they have more to do. If you want to try the Commodities Market while you're at it, see what's available in high supply and then try and sell it in the next station - at starting credits you won't make or lose much whatever, anyway.
Once you've done that for a bit you really should be getting a bit happier with what you're doing, and possibly a bit bored. Then it's time to look into more exciting missions, or exploring, or bounty hunting around a resource extraction site, whatever takes your fancy. The key is to always be aware it's possible to bite off more than you can chew - so if getting cruelly splattered by a pirate in an Anaconda bothers you, steer well clear of them for now.

Well, I've heard nothing but bad things about the drop ship....

What are you in now?

does the game update incredibly slowly for everyone? or is mine durped?

*not to worry it picked up!

So on the bulletin board when you need to source certain items like coffee for example, i open the galaxy map and filter it to only show coffee and none of the systems that it has arrows coming from seem to export coffee at all?

I assume it would be listed under each stations exports if it did?

Save yourself a lot of grief and use this. You type in where you are, what your looking for and how far you can jump, and it gives you a list of stations selling the item :)

how do you restart the game (like a reroll in a mmo)??

i shot at a friendly station as soon as i started playing, to see what would happen but now I'm wanted.

just want to start again...thanks.

Getting nowhere fast here.

Didn't make any progress last night, then earlier ran out of fuel so had to self destruct.

Was fine with all that... but now, low on fuel, docked at station, and it won't let me re-fuel!

This, I am not fine with...

God i'm ******.

so tired.

Done so much trading the paint is almost worn off my Warthog (the paint has actually now started to flake off the throttle boat-switch)

Made about 70 million lmao, gonna buy an Anaconda later... need to regain my eyesight first,

lol 70 million in a day? That's one epic session, mate, well done! :D

My Warthog is also looking well used since playing ED, the trigger has started to flake and the china hat is slowly changing colour.

Traded the Cobra for an Asp last night. It's not fully upgraded yet, but it's getting there. Need to fly back to the Type 6 and sell that too, as there's not a great deal of difference between the two when it comes to trading, and the few mill I'll get from the sale will be handy.

And the noise the Asp makes!

Oh dear god, I am about to get marooned due to fuel shortage again.

Not a single system I can jump to with a station... still rocking about 7K credit :/

Maybe I do need to go back to shooting games... time for break

Been following this on and off, was a massive Frontier fan back in the day, was only the latest Zero Punctuation video that reminded me about this.

What is the current state of the game, is it now out of beta?
Is it true it has a single player game? Thought that got cancelled.
In online play, are there any safe zones? I'm not a massive fan of pvp. :p
