Jeez! Just got to Lave, requested docking and flew into the station. But it didn't give me docking, so I got slapped with a 400 credit fine and barely managed to fly back out before the station's "get out or we'll blow you up" timer ran out! :o

Can anyone recommend me the next step up from a Viper, combat wise? I'm not sure a Cobra is a step up, as it seems to have the same weapons.

Clipper seems like a long haul, but I'm not sure what's capable in between. Asp perhaps?

I prefer the cobra. It has better top speed so running away is an option, plus better jump range. Lastly, the power/heat abilities are better meaning you can fire bigger weapons for longer.

The ASP is better again though :-)

Thanks Hodders.

Have you managed to take Anacondas in either? I'm getting plenty of missions to kill them, but I rarely get past their shields more than once.

I've just left my Viper 80LY away from where I'm at now and i have my starter Cobra 80 the other way!! Hopefully they'll enable some way of moving ships.

Do you have to pay anything for storage if you buy a second ship ? I have a fairly good cobra but thinking of a type 6 for a bit of trading , have 2.5 mil in the bank .

Been messing about for a while on ed and I'm enjoying it a fair bit, mainly bounty hunting and flyers my about systems upgrading ships, currently flyers my a cobra with a basic exploration set up.

I jump into a number of unexplored systems and wondered if there is a way of finding celestials or is it fly in a direction n scan and scan and scan til something pops up??

One way is to turn your ship about looking for anything that moves in parallax to the background, and fly towards it! Quite a tricky longwinded task.

The basic discovery scanner has limited range, so it'll only show up nearby celestial objects. Intermediate scanner is better. Advanced scanner discovers everything in a sector. Tips are to look at the system map and zoom out. If there's a lot of empty space, then you can be pretty sure there's more to discover.

Thanks Hodders.

Just get in behind them and have decent shield cells to replenish your shields.

Talking of shield cells who else thinks they ruin combat, they were introduced in Gamma and in all the various Alpa/Beta releases combat was far more stressful which equals fun.

PvP has turned into "who has the most shield cells". They need to make it so shield cells can be used once only, or give them fairly long recharge time. Say 90 seconds or so.

I think they need nerfing though, for example you can stack shield cell banks in multiple compartments, 2x or 3x A6 shield cells - good look killing someone with that setup lol.

I'm in two minds tbh, with the absence of any proper PVP mode, things tend to be very unfair anyway, people are very opportunistic - and are looking for easy kills most of the time, shield cells are a useful and very good thing to have if you like flying around doing your own thing.. but I agree, this does hurt PVP.

Personally I think there should be some sort of PVP league or mode/thing, where you can fight other players in sidewinders or vipers, in a proper PVP setup where all things are equal.

Well I can honestly say I am right miffed now..... This last week (limited play time due to baby due any day soon) I have been making a long haul of rare commoditys. 200t of gear. I was on the game this morning to plot the route back home to flog the rare stuff and my PC is a fair few years old so took a good 15 mins to plot the route. Anyway.... with my ship loaded up with well over a c2,000,000 worth of gear I launch from the station and line myself up with the letter box exit, no ships around, clear route out of there. Max speed. Booster engaged...

Then suddenly as I am about to leave station a MASSIVE ship decided to pop up (like I said, old pc but decent GFX card) I had draw distance to low/med. Cue me bouncing of it, smacking the station, spinning around and blowing up..

not happy right now..

Feel like crying to be honest

PEBKAC I'm afraid. When leaving stations I always have full pips to shields and head out at a steady pace just in case an NPC Type 9 decides to fill the whole slot leaving me with nowhere to go.

I take you had enough cash for insurance for your ship though?

Having been rammed by somebody doing the same thing into a station last night and losing my cobra to the collision I have no sympathy for you at all, if you are going to power through a station entrance expect to lose ships, if you don't have the money for insurance or to cover your cargo losses tough.

Don't boost in or out of stations, simple.

Wow I thought I had a bad day.... :D

But honestly, why would you boost, or even go full speed out of or into a station?

Even with a lowly beginners ship and no cargo I take it easy.
