Hi all,

Rather sick of using the god awful company supplied safety boots at work and Im looking around to get a decent pair of comfortable and hard wearing boots.

I had DM's before but they lasted barely 6 months before the sole wore through which was disappointing.

Any recommendations? Quite happy to spend around £100 if needs be.

Thanks all.

Which ones do your company offer you? I just got some Tuf steel toe-caps from work, cheap as hell but I've found them mega comfy. Use them 9+ hours a day with loads of walking and had no issues. All for about 30 quid I think.

Best boots I ever had were Dickies ones when my Dad was able to get them through work for me. I get some others free through work now, they're ok but nowhere near as comfy. I might actually buy a pair of Dickies myself, seeing that I'm wearing them 8am-6pm every day!

Been doing some research on steal toe caped boots lately.
Do you need midsole? Ive not been looking for midsole boots.

This is what I have found out.

DM's seems to have gone downhill. Soles are not lasting long anymore.

I was looking at these from Screwfix. They are cheap, and might last a while.

They are out of stock in my area till the end of the month. They have got 50/50 reviews.

Then I found Blundstone, but apparently they are no good anymore since they are no longer made in Aus.
So now I'm going to get a pair of Redback.

They can be had cheaper on amazon. They have great reviews all round.

I've had a lot of safety boots over the years and dealt with many more that people have worn. Dickies, Dewalt and Tuf are the bog standard, nothing special, but will do the job for a year or so.

As usual what ever fits. Just because someone else finds it conformable, you probably won't. Everyones feet are different. Go try them on.

This - I find amblers steel the best of the inexpensive brands both in comfort and long lasting whereas other people find them a bit loose and vice versa I've always found dickies to rub and fall apart way too quickly.

I just use My good old trusty rigger boots that I bought from the factory shop http://www.theoriginalfactoryshop.co.uk

They might not have them online I haven't looked, but there is a store near me, they cost 16 pounds and last a good 9 month, a lot comfier than the ones the council supplied when I worked on site a recycling plant/landfill and the council ones lasted about 2 month per pair and the steel toe cap in the council ones bent from kicking a pebble. Shows how they need to watch there own health and safety dvd crap they make us watch before they send us out working in there crap equipment

I have some DM rigger boots, feels like I'm wearing slippers at work its great!

although others hate them, so as others have said it depends to much on the shape of your feet

Socks.

Seriously, multiple pairs of soft socks. Warm and toasty types, you're good with anything.

I wear foundry rigger boots, as smooth as trainers with 4 pairs of socks:)

From work I've had grafters and hymalayn (spelling?) None mental boots (composite toe cap) both have been very comfortable the grafters were more flexible an a bit comfier but the hymalayn are much sturdier but quite thick soled
