Has the time it takes for the feds to scan you decreased?

I got caught twice last night with stolen rares, as soon as I got the dreaded "scan detected" notification I was fined. Like instantly straight after the voice warning.

How do you actually find rares? Can you filter for them in the galaxy map or is it a case of looking for the yellow items manually in each station?

Arrggghhh. Just got destroyed by some toe-rag boosting out a station.

2Mcr down the pan. :( At least I wasn't carrying slaves.

Been spending this evening collecting rares as I wanted a change from pure bountyhunting. Man is this boring, it is certainly very lucrative but SSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BORING. I was thinking of getting enough to kit out an Asp for combat but boy oh boy only a sadomasochist would do this.

It got so boring that I spiced it up by only docking in Flight assist off mode. Some tense moments but at least it woke me up. I eventually gave up on that idea and went a played a nice game of Excel.

I have to say but without the combat, ED it could be used as a form of torture. Literally everything else in the game is pure mind**** boring after more than an hour or so.

Well I have my Asp, jump range not quite what I'd like but it'll do for now, fitted the top discovery scanner and now I'm headed out into the void. Want to visit Betelgeuse, Rigel, Horsehead Nebula and anything else that takes my fancy. Also refuelling at a star is easy to do with no overheating.

I upgraded the hull on my Asp to the reinforced alloy. All I need to finish off my Asp is the military grade hull armour and the class 5A power plant.

Think its time to head to Sol and see if I can find a mission to smoke some pirates.

EDIT: Ok so I have my mission. Gotta kill 3 pirates. Will they be hard to find? Is it worth sticking a few tons of silver in my cargo hold to give them a reason to attack me?

easy to find, just go to USS's If they are wanted, they are a pirate :D

I found a wanted ship. I have 10 tons of silver in my cargo. But its not attacking me!

I'm in a system that's classed as "unexplored". Will I get a bounty if I attack first here?

No, unexplored = anarchy (no law enforcement).

Ok something weird here! I've killed 4 wanted ships now, but according to my mission I have only earned 1 kill out of 3. Why didn't the other 3 kills count?

EDIT: 6 wanted kills! Still only 1 pirate killed according to the mission :(

Just had a cracking bounty hunting session with a friend, at an Anarchy system not far from Neto, just a constant stream of decent rated Anacondas, Pythons, Dropships and ASPs, made just sort of 1Mcr in 2 hours,

Also ticketed a bug, where homing mines remain forever at 1% hull - which isn't a problem, but you have the "missile warning" alarm going off in your cockpit for all eternity.. Went to try and kill them and my point defense was emptying itself at it - but the mine was just sat there at 1%.

Got my 2nd pirate kill. I think they need to attack me first for it to count, even if they are wanted. A python tried to make me drop my cargo. When I killed it I got a 66K bounty and the 2nd kill. Just need to hope one more ship tries its luck.

EDIT: Annnnd done! Only weird thing is when I attacked that last one I got a 600 credit bounty against me. Didn't get a bounty for attacking anyone else first in that system, and he was demanding my cargo, so why the heck...?!

Oh well! I paid off the bounty at Sol. Made 110K profit from kills. And I got a promotion to chief petty officer :D

Just upgraded my ship to a Type 7 from an Asp ; omg ... it's like going from a Porsche to a Skoda in terms of handling. Makes me ponder if I actually earn more credits per hour doing trade runs in the Asp, despite its smaller cargo space ....

I can't bring myself to buy a pure trading ship. I did have the Hauler, but only till I could afford to trade for a Cobra. Now I have an Asp I'm not buying a new ship till I can at least afford a Python.

Right. I almost got myself killed AGAIN with the exact same mistake. Thank god I was able to reverse back out of the station this time. Only got slapped with a 400 credit fine.

I think you are better off doing a 180 (even in a type 7).

It also looks more pro and will fractionally reduce the acute embarrassment when other CMDRs are about.
