Hey guys, I've been tasked with building a PC for the purpose of producing and displaying videos, etc. Here's the spec I was given:

Windows 8 64 bit
Intel i7 3.5 GHz
8GB DDR3
Nvida GTX 750 or better
SSD for operating system and programs and preferably a large HDD to store all the recordings and things on.

They don't need a monitor or keyboard/mouse.

The cheapest I was able to get it was:

They haven't given me a budget exactly but I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me get it cheaper.
 
I wouldn't build an i7 based video machine with less than 16gb nowadays and I wouldn't want 1600mhz ram either.

Also a bigger SSD would be better.

You could lose the gpu and just use the IGP for now.

I realise this is a spec you have been given though.

GTX750, you dont need a huge PSU as Maxwell is very power efficient.

don't see the logic behind replacing 4790 with 4771 if they're the same price.

also not sure 128GB will cut it, if around 65 buys you 240-256GB.

benefit of having 2400MHz RAM compared to 1600MHz in a rig like this is exactly 0. but to be fair it's 0 in most cases.

I just arranged by price and went for cheapest cpu that still looked quick and was instock, yes the other is 100Mhz faster.

The RAM just happens to be a few quid cheaper than the 1600Mhz kit that is on offer.
 
Sorted. plus the CPU was now out of stock so swapped to.

It can be made even cheaper with a worse case and less RAM,

Thanks for the help guys. They didn't want to spend more than £500 at first but I think they're realising that's probably not very realistic considering the spec they want.

The £650 was interesting but would a 350w PSU be enough?
 
I think it is as theres not much power draw from the GFX card (may even be powered just by the PCI slot).
