*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Remember they only work on blue sparrows, sadly.

I quite fancy getting a green one actually, always think they look pretty cool :)

Aye, that's why I'll be getting a rare sparrow... got Vangard marks on one of my characters and no weapons I want from Vendor... so Sparrow Pimping it is!

Is the Dragon's Breath any good, tempted to buy it. With the Solar Flare at the end it might be quite good for the Crota fight? Shame it doesn't track.

Mixed bag really. Massive blast radius but its velocity is low and the "solar flare" is nothing but a Warlock grenade. It could cause more trouble for the sword carrier on the crota fight as it may cause Crota to move (not sure if he moves when a grenade is thrown at him?).

It feels like it needs a buff as currently it is a little naff.

So apparently in a twitch feed that was online for a few werks but has since been removed (but not before people posted links to it), this line of conversation about xur went down and only a couple of people spotted it.

Deej: 'it's not random, there is a plan, but every time I ask the guys who know what Xur is selling they say'

Dev: 'are you asking as a community manager with a valid concern or are you asking as a warlock that wants another feathered helmet'

Deej: 'and I say, yeh everyone is concerned about um the warlocks getting the same gauntlets and they're like

Dev: 'that wont be a problem.'

Deej: 'And I'm like well could you set my mind at ease by telling me what you will be selling for the warlocks? and they say'

Dev: 'no'

So it would seem it isnt fully random or at least, the amount of item is predefined so maybe 5-6 weapons are cherry picked and 1/6 is drawn randomly instead of from the full list of exotic weapons.

It does become difficult to believe that it's RNG when the items Xur is selling is the exact same items he sold 3 weeks ago:

Week 21:
Dragon's Breath
Exotic Engram - Gauntlets
Starfire Protocol
Don't Touch Me
MK. 44 Stand Asides

Week 17:
Dragon's Breath
Exotic Engram - Gauntlets
Starfire Protocol
Don't Touch Me
MK. 44 Stand Asides

It's very good area denial, but the rockets travel pretty slowly, even with the javelin perk on it. Kinda lets it down. Nice high damage, and the flare is good if the target moves slowly, Valus Ta'aurc for example. Like I said though, it's very good at clearing an area, if there were more thralls running about in the Crota fight you could use it to make a safe passage for your sword bearer or something.

It isn't random. With the increased TDB items from xur, no heavy ammo (since crota HM was released ) and the omnigul strike popping up all the time its pretty obvious that bungie are pushing for people to buy the expansion. I presume they're trying to make christmas noobies feel like they're missing out so they buy it.

I have learnt this the hard way. Buy every exotic weapon you don't already have that XUR sells.

Even more so if people on here say it's not worth writing home about.

P and T people on here said meh I have Icebreaker no need for any other sniper. Well P and T is best PvP sniper in the game. I should have just bought it the first time it came up.

I have missed it the last 2 times it has came up because I have been away and got there too late on sunday morning.

Even if it is a pile of crap (strangers rifle). It could get a massive BUFF with future updates, so just store it til it's buffed. Buy it.

Everyone should have a big bag of coins now I have around 150. There is no reason not to buy. Dragons breath is supposedly the second best PVE launcher in the game. People on here though will say it's crap because they are comparing it with gjallahorn. It's well worth buying and then fully upgrading it, does a lot of damage to groups of enemies.

So my advice would be just buy every weapon he sells unless you already have it. People are saying the solar flare is basically a warlock grenade. I'm saying test it out for yourself no reason not to.

yeah i've got dragons breath and truth for my warlock and only gallyhorn for my hunter (the stronger character).

I just keep them all in the vault even if I don't use them - between two characters though I've got an even spread of all my weapons so theres only like three exotics left in the vault (Invective etc)

Only ones I've got rid of are silly guns like Remote Control and that sniper that acts as a primary - just for the shards.

Dragons breath is quite good I find - solar damage with a huge blast radius it takes out enemies no problem - i'm still upgrading the last three bubbles. Wouldn't buy it again just for the Hunter though as Gallyhorn still trumps it.

Second best.... Entirely situational but I can't think of a situation where it can't be replaced by another one (I have it). Granted if you don't have Truth it does the "maximum blast radius" thing quite well. You just have to hope the enemy are asleep otherwise they will have moved away, read a book, watched a film and returned from a 2 week holiday to Crota's Island before the rocket reaches its destination.

People are saying the solar flare is a warlock grenade because, well, it is one!

I agree however that if you have the spare coins, buy it. It can be at least as a place holder when switching out weapons... :p

I'll be going for the don't touch me gloves as extra invis is always nice. I'll take a punt on DB but store it in the hope they buff it at some point. I don't see it worth an exotic slot the way it currently is. Only Gjallarhorn and Hunger of Crota will satisfy me if I ever get either! :-)

I read through the reddit thread on the previous page. I simply don't understand why they were defending bungie so much on there. The ammo bugs been around since release. By the time they fix it, it will have been in the game 5 months. That is not a short period of time, I'd imagine I've lost atleast 50 ammo packs worth of heavy due to that bug and thats a conservative estimate

So they've known about this bug for good knows how long and they have only just come back with a response saying they are in the process of fixing it . Meanwhile they remove heavy ammo from Xur and don't reduce the cost of heavy ammo from the gunsmith, if they had any consideration for the players at all they would have made it easier to acquire heavy ammo, not harder.

I agree with buying every exotic that you don't have, but if you don't have an overabundance of coins, I wouldn't bother with Dragon's Breath. The one thing it has going for it is actually the non-tracking aspect (and 3 shells I guess) as sometimes you don't actually want the rocket to track. Other than that, Gjallarhorn, Hunger of Crota and Truth are all much better alternatives.

As an aside, I got an Arc One Way Ticket RL the other night with the Field Scout perk. I was about to dismantle it until I noticed it was Arc, and then FS was a nice surprise. :)

I cant play Destiny till they do something with HUD. ****ing gun icon burned in on my 3 year old 1200 pounds plasma and thats with formatting it and heating and cooling it down after gaming sessions.
Its barely visible after 200 hours of pixel jogger but still see it.

They explained why it was a difficult bug to fix, it's right at the core of the way zones are initialised. Finding a suitable solution, implementing it and then thoroughly testing and getting it incorporated into the release timetable in amongst everything that is going on is not a quick process.

The people raging at Bungie all the time would have a very different outlook on things if they had any experience in the industry. They do a pretty damn good job with Destiny imo.
