What's the most you've spent on a game?

i played an F2p mmo for about 6 years till it closed spent around $5000 on it sold most of my extra items few months before it closed for around $2000 should have sold everything if only i had known it was closing was the only time i have fallen foul of the evil cash shops these days very rare i drop more than £5 on a game Elite was and exception as i grew up playing it

World of Warcraft. I'd say over the ten years I've been subscribed two thirds of the time.

So at 80 months, £9 a month, that's something like £720.

Then there's three copies of the game and one copy of each expansion (the other two accounts are unupgraded) at £30 a wallop.

So vanilla(3x)+TBC+WotLK+Cata+MoP+WoD = £240.

So £960 but I expect it'll be actually over a grand in reality. I've never spent anything on the Blizzard store and I wish others wouldn't.

WoW by a long shot.

But, a normal game that I regret the most? Fable III limited edition for the 360. Think it was like £80, biggest mistake and waste of money ever.

~£100 for BF4 + premium.

However, if you take into account PC hardware purchased specifically for a game, I think crysis probably beats my BF4/3 COD4 expenditure.

Wouldn't say any more than £100? Probably the most I spent was on the COD and map packs, got a lot of playtime out of them though so it doesn't bother me.

WoW for me, been playing since release but have took like 2 years out and a few months here and there but playing again now. I don't mind though as its saved me a lot of money in the long run.

Up front would be DJ Hero, I was crap at it and cost me like £55 or £60.

Probably wow & expansions & subs for 3 years :p

Yeah, similar here. 4 years of subs (2005-9) at £9 per month, then was a returnee for 6 months in the 2nd half of last year. So that's 42x9 = £378. Base game was something like £30. Most expansions were ~£25, skipped Cata. So yeah, about £500 all-in! Recently unsubbed myself again because Blizz botched up big time on the queues for Warlords.

Easily Flight Sim X for me. Got the game for about £20 but the add-ons I've bought since then must easily total £500+. Mostly PMDG stuff :D

Depends how one wants to answer this.

Up front software cost for a single game, probably no more than £35 on PC. On console I paid ~£45 I think for Streets of Rage 3 but memory is a bit hazy.

On arcade I must have shovelled more than £50 in on Street Fighter 2 Hyperfighting edition.

Including 'indirect' costs I've probably spent thousands on Quakeworld. Phone bills mainly but also travelling to LANs (UK and Sweden), and many of my peripheral upgrades were due to that game (120hz monitor, various mice, mechanical keyboard, ISDN/ADSL etc).

Hmm, premium beta on Elite:Dangerous and an X55 HOTAS setup was total 300+ EUR (shame the game isn't really finished, but I can be patient). I'm in for 300USD+ on Star Citizen too (patience also a virtue here).

Those are probably my biggest splurges, although I did treat myself to the Homeworld Remastered collectors edition at 100 quid.

Racing sims = who f@cking knows
Same :D

iRacing subscription along with a few tracks has already cost me somewhere around £150. I already had the wheel and pedals, but they were around £150.

Now I'm planning a full rig with Accuforce steering, HE pedals and triple 27" which would bump the total well over £2k.

£100 for elite kickstarter, £40 for a posh stick to play it.

Played it in beta then got fed up with it about a week after live and never loaded it up again!

DAoC for me easily.

Played from release till 2012 ( so 10 years or so) ended up with 3 subs, plus all the exspansions etc.

Probably spend in the thousands on it in the end.

Well worth it though :p
