I have noticed higher FPS on BFH compared to BF4, but maybe because everything isn't present yet?
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
Using AB OSD here too, though you cant get min/ave/max with it. 4790k @4.7ghz, stock 780 sli. Noticed that this one works the cpu a bit harder than bf4. My usage was a bit higher and temps in the mid 70's on all cores. Usually in bf4 its mid - high 60's with low 70's on core 1.
Listen im an AMD fan, i own AMD Cards, but Mantle is deadsad but true really, especially once DX12 lands.
It could have been great, but sadly it wasnt interesting enough studios to take up.

Out of curiosity, will Mantle be in Elite Dangerous and the new Tomb Raider does anyone know? It could be a great addition for AMD in those 2 games.
This may be a stupid question, but I've NEVER owned an AMD card in my life, always had Nvidia. So I'm wondering, if I got a 290 today, would I see a difference in games? If you're playing with a 970 one day, then a 290 the next, would you even know based on visuals? I've never quite understood this whole 'Mantle' thing because I never had reason to. Given that I'm considering a switch now though, it has me curious. Many people seem to be very much 'AMD' or 'Nvidia', so is there a reason for this, other than brand loyalty or simply preference for the hardware?
So, am I to assume from this that, objectively speaking, there is ZERO downside moving from Nvidia to AMD... apart from potential heat/power issues with some cards/case layouts?Mantle is a low level API, it's main benefit is much higher CPU performance, it makes CPU performance bottlenecking a thing of the past, it also has a more consistent render latency resulting in smoother more fluid game-play.
FRAPS sorted. You need to create a user.cfg file and add the following.I remember early on from BF4, the screen overlay used to cite 8 cores and 6 used, over the past year it's citing 8 cores and 4 used.
I don't know if it's made any difference to the performance as i have been using Mantle none stop since getting the 290 and with that i have a ton of CPU overhead to spare.
But test DX more recently with that change i always thought the performance was pretty crap, on Shanghai it could drop to the high 40's / low 50's in some places with full 64 players.
I don't know, but i don't remember it being that bad early on.
Higher CPU temps usually indicates it's using more threads to render, if that's the case in BFH it would explain that performance.

Wasn't really about how interesting it was - AMD marketed it wrong (to developers), kept it behind closed doors/only worked with selected studios in implementing it, no samples or API documentation or beta SDK out there for enthusiasts to play with etc. and many companies are just fed up with AMD bleating on about how great their latest headline feature is then dropping it on a 3rd party and expecting them to do the heavy lifting or just pulling support entirely and so leery of getting involved any way.
(Yes you know there is a mention of bullet coming somewhere).
Yep, i gota agree with this. A relative of mine plays it on an older i5 3570k with a 290. Tried it myself and was impressed. Im sure its a lot better for those on older cpu's too, as the 3570k is still pretty modern. Hopefully DX12 does the same, though i suspect i may need new card/s for when it comes around. More money.I will say one thing for Mantle, it was noticeably different when in use, and i mean very noticable, BF4 on DX on my 4770k @4.4 and my 290 @stock felt good at high settings, but as soon as they put out Mantle it was even better, also felt very very smooth.

@humbug, Yep, not too shabby. Could get a bit more if i oc'd the gpu's, sadly due to temp issues on the top one this isnt a good idea.
