780ti versus new cards

Afternoon peeps, I was wondering if I ask for your opinions about my current card and whether or not to wait or to sell and buy now. My current card is an EVGA classified 780ti at stock - 1150/7000 the card is extremely quick at 1440p however when playing high intense games I have to run high fan speeds. I ran 100% fan speed just to keep my gpu below 75 as my headphones drown out any noise anyhow. My question is to hold on for new cards or do I sell up now as it's still worth a lot of money ?
 
Well I bought the PC second hand so it probably needs repasting but having the fans at 100 percent I really don't mind because I can't be bothered to repaste.
 
I'd want a 780ti over a 970 still, hell I want one because it would match my GTX 670's although less 1gb vram but on a much faster bus
 
That fan speed doesn't sound right to me.

So your classy runs everything at decent frame rates in the settings you require and the noise doesn't bother you? I'd keep it for as long as possible if it's performing like that.
 
Yeah I thought people might have the same views :) Runs games exceptionally well at 1440p memory is a bit low for some games but I just reduce some settings and AA :)

Happy Days. Considering I purchased the whole pc for £700 it's pretty good :) The 780TI is probably worth £350 :P
 
Stick with your card because a 780Ti is as good as a 980 so there is no point in making any move it will only cost you money.

If you want to upgrade though go ahead it's your money :-)

Only thing a Maxwell card offers over a keplar card is the new AA mode. You might find they scale it down to keplar though.
 
What are 780ti's going for second hand? Just been looking at some on a well known auction site and you can pickup a Gainward Phantom one for £320 brand new.

Kept an eye on a couple of MSI 780ti's last week that went for £275 and £260(ish).
 
I moved from a reference Evga 780 Ti SC to a reference 980. The 980 is faster, cooler, quieter, uses less power and has more ram. I'd sell the classy (owning a classy and running at stock is pointless) whilst it's still worth something and bag a 980. Remember don't sell at normal 780Ti prices, classifieds demand a premium.

Im thinking about buying a cheap nvidia card (to save driver conflicts later down the line) And waiting for the next wave of Nvidia cards that are 4GB+

A move I am sure that cost you about £200 at least. I considered it but then it just didn't seem worth £200 for some extra performance in some titles and less in others.

Actually cost me £10, sold the 780 ti for £300, 980 was £310. Think anyone would have made the same decision given the opportunity.
