Meet AMD's Radeon R9 300 Gang

Generally speaking the upper mid range on a new gen is often performance relative to the previous gens top tier.

5870>6870
6950>7850
7970>280x

Makes sense that 290x>380x

They all do it, nvidia have had gk104 performance level cards floating about over the last 3 gens, 670/680/760/770/960...gradually getting lower down the food chain.

I have ordered a 980 and now this is coming out soon. Now I don't know whether I should I cancel and wait for the upcoming AMD Cards?

Yeah performance relative, not the same smegging card ! :p

At least prior to re-branding / rehashing you would get similar performance but at a lower power consumption due to a die shrink etc. Now we're getting the same cards just with higher clocks. Tis a sad sad time for the GPU space lol :D

A redesigned 290X on a die shrink would have been welcome..

A re-badged overclocked 290X not so much..

Much disappoint..

So basically this is AMD's G92 generation :P

Read this on Anands forums last night. Add salt to taste.

Just goes to show the lack of progression, AMD don't even need a new card to take on the 980. Looks like their refresh card (Refresh 290X) will do that. So those of us wanting a real upgrade need to wait for GM200 / 390X, and that's likely still 28nm :(

Arrrgh GPU's were never this boring in the past. I might just wait until 2016, would really hope by that point we will have fully new architecture on a die shrink..

The plus side is that this will save me some money :D

Meh..

All this specs look power hungry to me, don't think they fixed power consumption

Good to see AMD have improved on the cooler if this article holds any substance.... And a 1200Mhz 380X will be epic. Nice one AMD. :)

Stop treating this as news. It is forum rumour mongering.

And this is exactly why I've said before the 970/980 should had been 960/960Ti or 960Ti/970 in reality, but they were sold as "970/980" because Nvidia wanted to have their new gen cards competing against old gen cards :D

Grenada...

Well that's a bold choice of name for a GPU (It was invaded by the USA back in the 20th century, it was a total steamroll, they didn't stand a chance).

So basically the 380 power wise is not going to be anything different from the 980. So a bit meh really.

The card I'm most interested (and probably most people) is the 390X but that's not going to be out for some time yet as it seems.

I might as well just buy a 980 for the time being.

Kinda disappointed if its true that the 380X will be a rebadged 290 tbh, ho hum, like i say, 390X or 395X2 for me then i guess.

If the 395X2 is anything like the 295X2 but without the ludicrous cooler, then it should be a total beast, i was going to buy a new Freesync screen this year too, but im guessing the 395X2 will be proper expensive, so its looking like probably 390X + Monitor or just a 395X2 :)

Looks like i will be skipping the 380/X and going straight onto the 390X or even the 395X2

if the 380X is just a rebrand why is it taking so long to ``finalise`` and get out the door, but it makes sense though......but i dont want a sidestepped 290X do i..........or anything 290X.

so it looks like either a 390X or that Titan Z thing.........But of course, by far the best would be a Water cooled 395X2 ...........:D

Water cooled ?.......deffo, you cant cool 550W on air any more..............i've got the money and my budget is 1200 quid, but next Xmas is one heck of a long time away for an X2 monster.

My Corsair HG10 A1+H105 combo keep my 290x on stock clock at under 45C and overclocked 1215MHz/6000MHz at under 50C :D

So many people complaining about the "look" of AIO Watercooling solution for graphic being "aweful", but who cares about the looks of something inside the case, when cooling performance is so effective? :p

Haters' gonna hate :D

i said it looked bloody awfall and it does :p but all you need to do is to replace the Rad for something really nice..........one of those CPU jobs
