I've bought hundreds of PC parts used from the MM, Gumtree, even eBay over the years, and I have actually never had a single problem!
I've even bought refurbished watercooling kits and hard-drives, 10 year old PSU's, GPU's which have been mined with, and so on. As well as faulty GPU's which have re-flowed fine, and motherboards with bent pins which have been a doddle to fix.
I know to a certain extent this is down to luck, but it does also indicate that you might not need to worry so much.
You would buy a used car from someone you don't know wouldn't you? That is more of a risk.
This is true, I'm seriously thinking about looking into getting my watercooling bits second hand, it's looking to be very expensive so far!
I've never had any luck with anything like that though, it's typical, i'd buy something second hand and it wouldn't work, the seller be a right pain.
Sadly, I'm ages away from getting access to MM
