Should have it like WoW.. You are still in the world for 20 seconds after you quit without actually logging out of the game. If its a QQ then fine you deserve all you get.

at the moment if you try to exit when 'something' in going on it will count down, think it was 15 seconds until you can confirm exit.

Alt+F4 they can log, but if you whip your LAN cable out it will just look like a disconnect.

Has the patch just been patched?

EDIT:
1.1.02

Client changes:

- Collision damage tweak - Restore the check that prevented multiple lumps of damage from the same collision. Also make the damage split based on mass slightly more exaggerated
- Stop point defence turrets from targetting their parent ship's missiles/mines
- Fix issue with multiple controllers enabled and not recognising them all
- Fix matchmaking issue for comms when UDP hole punching fails
- Fix disconnect issue when a resend message is lost (fails and retries getting out of sync)
- Remove some unneeded telemetry in supercruise - it was causing some stutters

Server changes:

- Commanders with at least one Elite rank should receive a 2.5% discount at all shipyards and outfitting shops
- Backers who backed at the Founder level or above should receive a 2.5% discount at all shipyards and outfitting shops
- Faction recovery time from Civil War has been significantly reduced

Thanks

If you lose your ship get a screen that lets you choose which modules you want back on the insurance. Although I haven't tested it, I would hope that if you're just short of the rebuy price, you can unselect a module or two and then get your ship back that way.

Combat logging is Alt+F4 during a fight, usually just before you lose.

Ahhh, that's cool then. I am roughly 3 mill short, so happy to lose some bits if needed.

That is a little naughty exiting the game and glad they will be doing something about it.

I'm trying to make up the credits I lost earlier, about 10 million to go, but it's so sloooooow now. I really feel for the new guys.

I went for a cruise around Yembo earlier with a few friends, lots and lots of cmdrs, lots of interdicting going on, lots of drama lol.

My friend in a viper was busy knocking people out of SC and firing his limpets, the naughty boy :D I killed a few wanted cmdrs and chased a few others around, might go back in a sidewinder and do it for a giggle, :D

Yer, same as that. I would hate to start from scratch again but probs would. I see a few say that the game is lacking in things to do and I wouldn't say they are right or wrong but this is the only game I have played since getting it (in proper gaming time) and I am still really enjoying it but can't put my finger on why.

Then again, I lost so much childhood to Elite on my C64, so maybe it is me clinging to youth :D

MMO's have had steps to prevent Combat Logging. Easy way is your ship remains in game for 30 seconds even if you close the game. Makes your ship easy meat.

Wont happen with ED's p2p system as it would leave your ship controlled by the other local computer and the client is as secure as a jelly prison.

I know exactly what you mean. Cant put my finger on why I love it either. I have been in since beta and I cant put it down.

Did the Yembo run last night and got into the top 5% but it was way to much hassle with the constant interdictions from players and NPC alike and the squeeky bum time when docking with loads of other players doing the same thing, most of which were in a somewhat "exuberant" manner :D
I actually like the idea and the amount of players you get to see and sometimes interact with in this kind of situation, but until we have the "wings" mod and can get a proper escort its not worth the risk in my opinion, good to see ED dev's having a go at livening things up though

Interesting. I just accidently approached a station without requesting docking first. But instead of the usual 30 second warning, I was giving 1 and a half minutes to clear the station. It was a station I was allied with.

I wasn't aware of this being added in the patch. Nice change :)

Awesome, might give me time to get the flying pig back out to safety next time i'm to tired (drunk) to request docking, it all gets rather expensive :D

Found it in the patch notes.

-Increase the timer before dishing out a bounty for trepassing in a station to 90 seconds from 30. People in big heavy ships should be able to avoid being killed for that mistake.

Nice! I still ended up with a 400 credit fine cause I got stuck in the stupid toast rack, but at least I had way longer to get myself out of trouble.

Wasn't even piracy, I quite like a good fight even though I'm not specced for it, it was just griefing. He took my shields down and destroyed my thrusters before I could even turn to face him and then just sat there.

Hi kablooey, thanks for the fun. Your absolutely right, I had blood lust. I wanted to pick your ship apart piece by piece, watching as your life support failed in cold dark space.

Just a quick tip, your flying in open space under armored with the weakest possible shields, no shield banks while in the most expensive ship in the game expecting not to get attacked. That is a huge recipe for disaster.

Also, dont worry, no one really cares about you combat logging. Your not the first, you definitely wont be the last.

Here is a video recap in case you need to give a visual to anyone of how quickly your shields melted.

lol props for posting here...I'm guessing you googled your own name looking for people you have wound up? You know, watching that video, I agree, I should have taken more care playing in open especially around such busy space. Luckily I can afford the loss so no real harm done.

I would disagree about combat logging...That would have been done the moment my shields went down. I was obviously dead when my thrusters hit 0%. More of a rage quit (though done via the game menu while you left me spinning) and not giving you the satisfaction of seeing me self-destruct. Poor form, maybe, but not to my benefit.

This is what combat logging looks like to me...

Yup, correct on how I found the post. Though I was looking for one of me holding Yembo station hostage. Guess I didnt kill enough traders by the station. I actually stumbled on this one by accident.

Thanks for that video. I almost forgot what its like to be chased by a dozen people for hours on end. That was a lot of fun.

Regarding the logging, if you check the other videos on that page, it happens a lot. Same to just about every pirate grabbing a trader. Didnt mean anything by it. I honestly wouldn't care if it was intentional.

Also, here is my rig. 4x 290x's at 1377/1550 clock make sure that either the game client or the actual video drivers stop working when i'm in trouble. I take care of her and she takes care of me. ;)

Apologies right off the bat for such basic questions but I've just started with ED and while I'm enjoying it, I could do with understanding a few very basic elements if anyone can enlighten me?

1) Am I right in saying that Hyperspace is for moving between systems whereas Supercruise is for getting around inside systems quickly? If so, I noticed while Supercruising to a station that my speed kept increasing but seemingly started decreasing on it's own without any input from me? Why would it do this?

2) What is the best method to drop out of Supercruise as near (but safely) to your destination? (I seem to be unable to slow down sufficiently when the "Slow Down" warning pops up and always end up going past!)

3) I did my very first mission last night on solo play - navigated to a specific system to gather some data and return it to the station - managed to do this, came back, docked and went to the bulletin board and while the comment suggested that I'd been successful, the "drop cargo" (or whatever) button was red and it wouldn't let me complete and collect the credits!?!?! - Any idea why? (there was mention of the mission being "considered illegal" but I don't seem to have been given a wanted level etc!?!?)

Thanks for any pointers....

1. As you approach large bodies, your speed automatically decreases, you can either think of it as a safetly feature, or mavity affects.

2. Two ways to manage this... 1. Keep your speed within thin the blue range (I find middle is best) then you will automatically reduce speed in time. 2. When your distance reads 6 or 7 seconds, reduce throttle to the middle of the blue zone (if it drops to 5 seconds, you will overshoot) Number 2 is the fastest, number one the most consistent.

3. No idea! Does the mission require more than one? Or did you run out of time maybe? You will only get fined if you are scanned with illegal cargo.

1) Yes. Frameshift drive (FSD) has two modes, interstellar (hyperspace) and super cruise. When you lock a target when the FSD is active such as a planet, star or station the nav computer takes over the FSD throttle, however you still have a control over the time taken to get to the target. If you apply full throttle the nav computer will go all out in order to get you to the destination ASAP, but it's likely it won't be able to slow you down in time in which case you'll get the 'Slow Down' pop up. The trick is to look at the throttle position and set it to the 'blue zone'. When set in this throttle range the nav computer will be able to adjust the speed sufficiently that by the time you get close to your destination you will be able to deactivate the FSD and drop out next to the station. In order to drop out safely, you need to be less than 1000km from the destination and travelling less than 100km/s.

2) 'Slow Down' should be renamed. It actually means 'Overshoot'. It means the FSD drive is unable to bleed enough speed off in order to let you safely drop out. Carry out the manoeuvre known as 'the loop of shame', bleed some speed off and try to keep your throttle in the blue zone to avoid having this problem. ;)

3) No idea, possibly a bug.
