****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

was in game earlier looking at wiiu bundles and without coming across as offensive etc i was surprised at the number of 'adults' looking at the nintendo ds etc (am i right in assuming a new one is due out tomorrow?)
perhaps its my naivety but i always thought/imagined only kids (under 16) had a nintendo ds etc so got talking to a guy in the store and he said he used his 3ds more than his next gen console etc and that the game back catalogue and also upcoming games are huge..

i know people can be touchy about being asked their age etc :) but what are the average age in here of DS/3DS etc users?
i only ask because i have always wanted one ever since i had the one of the first nintendo gameboys and loved playing ren and stimpy on it but was always put off, perhaps by my own 'these are for kids only' approach...

Im 25 but grew up with this stuff and hope i never grow out of it :D, games are my thing, never been into sports etc :)

29 on Sunday and excited as hell for the new DS. There's some cracking games on the system and as Majora's Mask is one of my favourite Zelda games. I couldn't pass it up :D

I was 37 a few weeks ago, age doesn't matter for Nintendo games or any console to be honest.

Picking up a new XL tomorrow ;)

good to hear, im 33 and like i said always had an interest in the 3ds having just got a wiiu i think now i may get a 3ds for my birthday in March
is there any games not compatible with the new 3ds and what titles should i look out for in particular?
im interested in anything apart from sports, fifa etc

i can pick up a 3ds new from the rainforest for like £79 or the new 3ds out tomorrow is £149... whats with the huge price difference?

29 here. I think the reason for this is a lot of us grew up when Nintendo were front runners on the console market. I do worry what happens when the NES/SNES/N64 era people pass and it makes me kind of sad because if Nintendo don't get back to the glory days then I fear for the long term.

There's no games as of yet but I believe Xenoblades will be a N3ds only title when it is released in a few months. The older 3ds will be made no more as the new one will take its place once stock has gone.

The newer one has much better specs all round and has tracking for the 3d which is a huge improvement. Also Some games like the new Monster Hunter will have better textures.

Currently £115 for the N3ds on Rainforest France.
;)

My MM edition 3DSXL reported as dispatched from Amazon today.

My Ninty one is also coming but later in March. That's going to be for the collection stash :)

How much are normal 2nd hand 3DSXLs selling for now?

Same age and have to agree. It's a shame but Nintendo has been surviving recently by playing on the nostalgia of it's older fans, but it doesn't have the same cultural importance for the younger generation of today as it did in the 90s. Game boy was the first big social gaming of my youth, using a link cable to play vs tetris. Then we'd crowd round the lucky kids house to play duck hunter. Then later desperately hoping I'd get a snes to play SF2 and SMW. I just can't imagine kids feeling the same about the Wii when Xbox and PS are dominating modern game culture, not necessarily for the same reason. If they can bring in decent young developers to keep coming up with quality ideas then who knows, but you can't survive on taking 30 year olds back in time forever.

PS. Can't wait to get my MM n3DS tomorrow :D

Can't believe I forgot to mention the Gameboy! On a positive note I'm really enjoying MM so far. It's really bizarre.
