1 x Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler £24.97
Total : £30.95 (includes shipping : £4.98).

Looking into getting this to replace my XIGMATEK LOKI SD963 92mm which become noisy. I am concerned about the size and will it fit inside my Zalman Z9 plus case and not obstruct the 1st memory slot on my m/b.

Does anyone have it mounted in that case and if so can you close it up properly and does it prevent the 1st ram slot being used with low profile ram?

As-long as your ram is low profile you will be able to fit a 212 and use the first ram slot no probs. The biggest issue is mounting the dam thing, such a PITA to mount

There was a time the 212 was a great cooler for it's low price. But that time is not now. There are many better coolers with similar prices now.

Alpenfohn Matterhorn is much better £29.99

Raijintek EreBoss for £29.99 is better

Xigmatek Gaia II for £22.99 is almost identical in performance

Any around the 212 evo cost that have similar performance but are shorter than 159mm ?

Alpenfohn Matterhorn is 158mm (so barely any difference in size)

Raijintek EreBoss is 160mm

Xigmatek Gaia II is 159mm

Raijintek Themis is 165mm.

So still just as tall as the 212 evo if not taller.

Themis (5.5mm taller)and EreBoss (0.5mm taller) You asked for suggestions and now bitch about what is suggested? Oh well. Find your own. Guess there has to be a few in every barrel

I recently installed a 212 Evo on a 4670k running at stock speeds. It's very quiet with the stock fan, even under load.

On my board, it doesn't obstruct the closest RAM slot, as long as you use low-profile memory. The installation wasn't particularly difficult, but the instructions could have been better.

My case is slightly narrower than the Zalman Z9 Plus, so you may have a few more mm to spare. If you don't have any side fans, then it should be OK.

I asked if there were any that were less than 159mm, you said they were and when then when I reply saying well actually they aren't you go and throw a hissy fit?

The reason I asked was some of the lower budget cases (and the Corsair Spec series) won't take the 159mm coolers.

Grow up.

are you sure the matterhorn is much better? this review comparison says the 212 evo is better in the stock single fan configuration.

Well I have had the 212 evo for a few years and am impressed. It can handle a 4.2GHz overclock on my current CPU without problem and even more I'm sure :) So I would definitely recommend one.

Thanks guys. I might just go with the Xigmatek Gaia II instead when I get around to it. I am currently thinking of a new rig with an I5 4690k with a bigger cooler like the Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler.
