Anyone fancy a doughnut ?

This is surely a publicity thing. I refuse to believe that nobody would think 'hmm KKK yeah let's put that out there' without thinking of the Ku Klux Klan. I expect it was thought up unintentionally, they realised the connection, then put it out there anyway knowing they could laugh it off.

This.

How much would a global marketing campaign cost? A lot more than a Facebook post and a few "were sorry" prepared PR statements ;)

No, they are not - there are numerous other American doughtnut chains that are as good if not better than Krispy Kreme. Unfortunately none of them bothered to come over here so we are stick with Krispy Kreme and a pricing strategy that takes advantage of the legions of hipsters who think paying more than 10 quid for 12 donuts is some sort of badge of honour.

A shame, as they are nice, but the prices are ridiculous and the same donut from Krispy Kreme in the US is about 60 pence.

For a similar effect see also Five Guys - 15 quid for a burger that's better than but still the same concept as a Burger King (Paper wrapping, cardboard cup, box of chips). Which is also about twice as much as it costs back in the home market. Yet every weekend the queue is out of the door so people can show Instragram they spent 15 quid on a burger and chips.

so your saying that people should just take a quick flight to the us to get thier donuts?

Yes, thats totally what my post says.

well he says their the best you can get and you say their not because there's better in America.

so pretty much yep thats what your post said.

Anyone ever tried to microwave the plain ones for 7 seconds?

They turn into what they would have been like coming right off the rollers. And I have eaten those too.

Also doing so can revitalise ones that are 2 days old, but not for long so you need to munch them down quick.

Oh I do love them. I do I do I dooOoooo

:confused::confused::confused:

Do you think they are buying the ingredients in the UK or importing them for the US?

The pricing over in the US is completely irrelevant....

Lidl do the best alternative to Krispy Kreme and they cost 25p each. My local branch bakes them fresh daily in the new in-store bakery. The glaze tastes and feels every bit as good as the Krispy Kreme version that often costs £1 or more, EACH!
