What is the best single piece of television and you have seen?

Difficult to choose just one so I'll go for something a bit unexpected.

The "Boiling Point" episode of Casualty that had to be moved post-watershed where an estate got fed up with criminals and formed a vigilante mob. Ended with the hospital getting ramraided, firebombed and all sorts. Would probably seem quite tame now I expect but at the time it left a very big impression on me.

Rome - Titus Pullo in the arena
BSG - Rescue from New Caprica
Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Hush
Dexter - The Getaway (Final episode of Season 4)

Lost - The Constant (Season 4 Episode 5)

Others of note:

Band of Brothers - The Breaking Point (Episode 7)
Breaking Bad - Fly (Season 3 Episode 10)

The final episode of season two of Hannibal was just fantastic - bloody, beautiful, tragic. It's hard to describe how perfect it is.

An honourable mention goes to the penultimate episode of Spartacus where the show says goodbye to Crixus, who had died at the end of the previous episode. It's a fitting tribute to a character who had become much more than the stereotypical playground bully he had started out as, and it sets up the final episode perfectly.

This may not be it but it's the one that's come to mind.

The Sopranos, one season and I can't remember which, spent most of the season building up the tension between Tony and Johnny Sack, and their families, heading New Jersey and New York to war. I was really anticipating a bloody conflict, The Sopranos wasn't that violent overall but when it was violent it was properly violent, and come the season finale the tension was palpable. In a master stroke of writing and acting the war never happened and I didn't feel cheated.

I really should watch The Sopranos again.

Red wedding in GoT, train heist in BB, I remember really enjoying the episode about Richard (aka mascara man) in Lost, several parts of BSG season 3 including the rescue and Starbuck's end scene.

For a funny one; Sopranos - Pine Barrens :D
