Hi guys I've just purchased the Ek Ram Monarch Module plates for use with corsair vengeance LPX DDR4 Ram, I've managed to get corsairs heat sinks off.
One side has the memory IC Chips on but the other doesn't it just has foam that was stuck to the backside heat sink.

Am I meant to stick thermal pad on that? Or just leave the foam on?
Here's some pictures to help.

What you need to do is to remove the foam and put a 1.5mm thermal pad on this side. The 1.5mm pads aren't sold with the monarch so you will have to bought them separately.

Thanks I'll check it but that is the right thing even if pricey, someone should let people know about this before they buy them as I had no idea.
Use Tim to get them off? I'm surprised it didn't come off the first time when I heated it

Do you really need thermal pads? Pretty sure your ram would work fine without any heatsink.

Just leave the foam on the one side and put the monarch cover over it. Its not like it will be any different to how it came from the factory. Its mostly just for show anyway?

Which would be doing what exactly? Im ordering the monarch next week for my ram but its not like the ram gets warm enough to matter?

Your sticks are one sided anyway. Up to you but its not something I would worry about too much.

Ok m8 thanks I ordered 1.5mm thermal pads from Ek anyway.
Sorry just never done the ram modules before, I take it if I do want to use the thermal strips on that side, I won't have to use thermal paste? I just don't want to ruin my ram
Are your sticks one sided?

You dont use paste with thermal pads? I killed two sticks of ram today trying to remove the heatsinks. I now have some 4GB bits of metal and 0GB ram sticks.

When trying to remove the stock heat sinks, you need to use a hot air gun, or hair dryer, to warm the pads ups, they'll come of easy then.

My ram was water cool because it looks cool..... It dose nothing for performance unless you overclocking your ram and thats pointless. Not worth the cost and messing.

Dont remove the foam from the sticks just mount them in the moduals
