I saw a really odd thing last week. We asked an estate agent to come to our house to give us a valuation. When he arrived he was a young guy (aren't they all!), very polite and smart in a nice-looking suit, etc.
He asked if he should take his shoes off but we said no, there was no need. He wandered around having a look and taking a couple of photos on his phone but all of a sudden he did the strangest thing possible.
He bent down and extracted a pen from down the side of his shoe. I think he saw me looking a little surprised and he just said "I'm always worried it'll leak in my jacket pocket".
What an odd thing to do - or is it commonplace and I'm out of touch? It was a bulky pen and although outside his sock it was wedged down the side of his very smart shoe.
