Nvidia: what I want to share with you will redefine the future of gaming.

It would solve my problem of building a PC for under the TV, so I am hoping it is. Something for some family gaming and something to stream my films/shows = my happy family :D

If it's a new shield then nVidia will be thinking along the lines of. First shield took 3 years to make then its took about a year and half to finally get the shield 2 ohh screw it, its been 5 years in the making right here! And our die hard fans believe anything even if we say it will redefine the future of gaming LOLS.
A few guys kept banging on how AMD cutting their R&D budget and it's doom and gloom...

Would be funny if Nvidia's "Redefine the future of gaming" in the sense of...

"We are investing 95% of our R&D budget on Shield and mobile gaming. No we have not forgotten about PC gamings...we are still have our 5% R&D budget dedicated to desktop GPUs development" :p

I wonder who will win out, that I know of there is Oculus, Sony, Microsoft, whole bunch of others too. I hope they will all work off the same standard.

Sony's is for the ps4 only afaik
Microsofts looks interesting but no specs yet

Whichever offers the highest refresh rate and resolution will get my money, 1080p is rubbish for something a few inches from your face

You had the DK OR for a bit and did the pixels look that bad?

Surely that depends on the pixel density?

if you make the pixel density better (higher) but stick with 1080p then you drastically reduce the FOV

I had DK1 and 2, the DK1 was absolutely awful, the DK2 was better but still not actually useable, it was like playing NES game level of graphics, bare minimum is 1440p and really it needs to be 4k
I also never managed to get the low persistence mode working as no games had updated when I got mine, hence why I got shot of it quickly while resale values were still good

I didn't think it would be that bad but then again, when you see how close the screens are to your eyes, I can see where you are coming from.

I hope you are right still. Choice is better.

yes, dpi needs to be much higher than 1080p, which will allow more resolvable detail and get rid of screen door which is the biggest problem, even if you run games at a lower resolution

I will buy a 1440p headset, I won't buy another 1080p one, but ultimately yes it does NEED to be 4K as that solves 2 of the problem you highlight, however yes it also needs to be higher than 60hz

Microsoft are building an AR headset for Windows 10. It's not VR. Let's just make that clear. I prefer that to a full VR system where you can't see through it to the real world. I feel like the AR has better real world applications than VR.
