gents,

In about a month or two I'll be moving into my new place - it's being renovated at the moment and it's gone back to brick with everything thrown out.

I need everything basically:
  • washing machine
  • dryer
  • tv
  • fridge
  • hob
  • oven
  • wireless thermo etc

I've been looking at topcashback often to see if there's good deals but I was hoping to find a retailer/supplier that might give a great bundle price and warranty if all of these are bought in one go (circa 5-8k worth of appliances).

I went to a highstreet electronics retailer, similar to certain indian food, and they were like yea whatever, no bundle discounts, no benefits to buying all in one go, which kind of seems crazy to me.

Is there any retailer or directly from manufacturer that offers better pricing/warranty if all items are bought together?

If not, can you guys recommend any other strategy? places to buy from/brands to avoid/when to buy etc?

I would try your local Euronics centre. They are individually owned but part of a large buying group.

I'm sure you'll get a decent deal from them

  • washing machine - LG
  • dryer - White Knight
  • tv
  • fridge - Anything Korean or Gorenje
  • hob - Gorenje

You won't go wrong with my choices.

Most Gorenje products will come with a 5 years parts and labour guarantee.

You don't need to spend Miele money on a washing machine to get Miele quality. The idea that an LG washer in entry level is not correct. :D

Try to visit a local independent store. They are more likely to be / be able to give some hefty discounts on a bulk buy. Also you will probably get a better service.

When my folks had their kitchen/utility room done last year they went with AO, worked out to be the cheapest (or at least the same) for what they wanted. Always worth keeping an eye out for manufacturer-specific cashback deals too, they got money back on their washing machine and dryer, and a free induction pan set with the hob.

They went Samsung for washing machine and dryer, Bosch for dishwasher, Neff for oven, microwave, hob and extractor and already had a Samsung American-style fridge.

In basically the same situation we went with AO and had an absolute nightmare of a time with their installations.

American Fridge/Freezer - Came with wrong adapter to connect the water feed.

Washer dryer - Brand "new" washer dryer had had transit bolts previously removed at some unknown point and had water in it

Gas Range Cooker - Took three installation attempts again due to bringing the wrong adapters.

While the delivery lads are nice guys the back office is useless. If the third installation attempt for the cooker hadn't been by the same team as the second that would also have failed as they recognised the job and made sure to bring the right adapter (the back office had failed to add it to the job notes despite a fairly heated conversation with me).

The cashback did come through, but in my case it wasn't worth the hassle!

This - Currys etc. are essentially just box-shifters, you'd be far better going to an independent where you can actually talk to someone with the authority to make a decision.

Also a third vote for an LG washing machine.

woah, that sounds like a nightmare...ok will give AO a miss then

Thanks for then advice - I will have a look around the area and see what independent stores I can find. Rather support them than big chains anyway

Thanks for the advice - I did some research on Gorenje (hadn't heard about them before you mentioned it) and it seems that the warranty isn't so much a problem as actually getting the company to act on it. Something to the effect of 'goodluck claiming on the warranty, they are serviced by a third party in this country and they never have available engineers'?

Has that been your experience? Also any particular reason for Gorenje? I notice their prices are quite expensive

We sell loads of Gorenje stuff because of the warranty and the fact that it is reliable, landlords love it for that very reason.

As for service, Gorenje use the same service provider as Panasonic, Currys, Rangmaster etc etc.

There is no issue with service.

we ended up with a lot of Ikea gear, simply because for the cost there was nothing better with a decent length warranty.

All our kit is built in tho

See if there is any outlet store nearby. We purchased a washing machine and dryer combo in immaculate condition. Was last years model and so 40% discounted for no real reason.

Had never heard of Gorenje, will check the brand out if we need to replace the hob/oven at any time.

entry/mid level prices. We've been perfectly happy with our LG Washer Dryer, a nice bonus is the price we paid.

We didn't want an American style fridge so bought a Panasonic NR-B32FX3-XB, it's lovely.

Euronics centres are good. My local one even delivered my new washing machine same day for free and it was the same price as Argos.

That was back when I used to buy new washing machines. Now I favour second hand.

This is also a good shout - When I moved into my new place, I went to a factory second/outlet shop and got a £6-700 RRP Samsung american style fridge/freezer for £300 (because it had a big scratch on the side), and a ~£400 RRP LG washer for £250 because it was missing the inlet hose (which we replaced for about £10 from B&Q)

I had great service from AO. In your position I'd phone them up and ask for a deal that improves on cashback.

LG Washer/Dryers are awesome.

Same with AO.

Delivery was quick, placed it where I wanted it and everything worked fine.

I went with Samsung for the washer and fridge and they've been superb. Make sure you get a frostless freezer would be my only advice :)
