***Official AMD Mantle Thread***

I'm not trolling though, just putting 2 and 2 together.
You stated Swiftkey will do what it thinks is best, based on your posts it's clear making posts that are hard or very difficult to read is what it does best. Sorry if that offends you.

RIP Mantle, shame AMD wasted resources on Mantle instead of trying to fix the root of their problems, under performing CPUs.

What if it was always AMDs plan to bring mantle were it is now? GLnext, OpenGL plus mantle is what am reading so mantle is supposed to still be going. Just understand new name.

GDC 15: Khronos Acknowledges Mantle's Start of Vulkan

Neil Trevett, the current president of Khronos Group and a vice president at NVIDIA, made an on-the-record statement to acknowledge the start of the Vulkan API. The quote came to me via Ryan, but I think it is a copy-paste of an email, so it should be verbatim.
Many companies have made great contributions to Vulkan, including AMD who contributed Mantle. Being able to start with the Mantle design definitely helped us get rolling quickly – but there has been a lot of design iteration, not the least making sure that Vulkan can run across many different GPU architectures. Vulkan is definitely a working group design now.

So in short, the Vulkan API was definitely started with Mantle and grew from there as more stakeholders added their opinion. Vulkan is obviously different than Mantle in significant ways now, such as its use of SPIR-V for its shading language (rather than HLSL).

I very much doubt what has happened was AMD's plan unless one would choose to believe they knowing lied and it would have a public sdk out full well know it wouldn't.
I prefer to think its evolved along the lines , they have tried Dx12 and seen the gains/differences between it and mantle 1.0 aren't great enough to bother with and have simply moved onto mantle 2.0 to do new stuff
From what most say about Vulcan it used some mantle some from other people which doesn't really make it mantle but a whole new thing.

they're admitting that mantle has pretty much served its purpose and won't be continuing as a major api, it was a short term effort to try to boost sales... didn't it do well! :D

project Volkan is not Mantle though, merely AMD have provided some code and IP that have been incorporated. Khronos have developed much of glNext themselves but have had a lot of support, code and IP given by different project partners, including Nvidia.

Mantle is dead, AMD have tried to salvage some of their efforts by donating to khronos. That was never AMD's plan, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with the entire Mantle malarkey and simply contributed more to glNext. AMD have simply realized it is a lost cause with both glNext and DX12 overtaking them.

Yes, AMD contributed Mantle code and IP to Volkan -so has Nvidia. Sure, AMD likely contributed more but we will never know how much all the different partners have contributed exactly or what relevance that will have in the final product.

Just... The bickering... This is a great outcome for mantle, OpenGL, AMD, Nvidia, you and me. As for no public SDK, AMD quite possibly intended to release it, but with DX12 so hot on the heals of Mantle and limited dev uptake they probably CHANGED THEIR MINDS - when they realised it had a limited future. People/companies can do that when situations change/develope, it doesn't mean they lied.
