Really want to get back into Elite but after breaking my delanclip, I just can't muster up the will to play without head tracking. Got a XG VR headset due to arrive sometime in the next few months through kickstarter so maybe that will suffice until proper VR is available.
 
The problem with exploring is that after you get fed up with it and decide you'd like to do some trading/bounty hunting/smuggling/anything-which-isn't-exploring you still have a 9K lightyear trip home... almost tempted to press the "get home fast" button marked self-destruct ;)

Yer, I imagine it is getting pretty hammered. I am also very interested in the new ship prices. I currently have 348M in assets, so hoping to get summit new :)

vulture and FDL both in, no Corvette.
There are many, many new instructions to read, wings, shield boosters, hull upgrades, reboot + repair, new heat damage display and camera.
FDL seems decent 1 huge and 4 medium hardpoints

The Fer de lance is a ship and a half. Four medium hardpoints and one huge hardpoint. It has 300 shields and 225 hull and is pretty fast and maneuverable. An excellent ship for assassinations. Meagre 48 tonne cargo capacity in my configuration. No idea on its actual price as its 100 Cr in beta. I did spend the best part of 40 million Cr upgrading it, and there is more to spend.

Not played for a couple of weeks, (got bored) but thought i'd jump in and have a look at beta 1.2

Just been messing around with the external camera, you can get a good view about your ship, but track-ir doesn't work and it's a bit clunky, but it's good for taking screenshots;

Do you need a detailed surface scanner to get good information? a friend of mine is trying to work out how to use one but cant seem to get it working

Grats!

I gave up looking for Earth-likes and started heading back to human space, only to stumble upon one by accident on the way back!

Still just under 4K LY away from Sol; don't think I need to worry about someone tagging it before me though, I haven't seen another "discovered by" in the last three thousand lightyears!
