Netanyahu: Iran a threat to the world.

Silver has made this thread comedy gold. I spent 2 years living between Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan and Israel so I have a pretty good understanding of the people. Almost all of the Israelis I met were wonderful people who actually supported the Palestinian plight and wished their govt would be more reasonable, but then they were British and American jews who had moved there.

The Muslim people were amazing, male and female, with and without Hijab's, I would go so far as to say possibly the most wonderful welcoming people I have ever met in my life. The problem with people outside of these areas is they think Muslim = Extremist and frankly it is just absolute BS.

90+% of the Terrorism in the US and EU is committed by non-muslims, but we never hear about that. Remember the Christian terrorist in Scandinavia that killed over 100 adults and children? What about the Christian that recently killed 3 muslims in the same family in the US?

All of what people believe about terrorism and muslims is served to us on a silver platter by the media because they want people believing the Middle East is a powder keg about to blow which is no more true than it is about the rest of the world. All it does is to serve the rest of the world a BS story that allows us to meddle in affairs we have no business in to get some cheap oil.

Palestine however is our business and we do owe it to the Palestinians to get involved as we (UK and US) are completely responsible for the mess that is there now.

If you read some factual stuff rather than Israel's rhetoric you will see that this is nothing more than the genocide of a peaceful people now driven to violence through ill treatment, lack of basic human rights who are fighting for their lives.

Israel breaches every ceasefire agreement they make and always drives the Palestinians into violence as a last resort. If it isn't Gaza it is theft of land and destruction of ancient ancestral homes in West Bank and Jerusalem.

The ignorance which is applied to Israel and Palestine is frustrating at worst and damn well infuriating most of the time. It saddens me that people like Silver believe the media and Israel as it is worse than the former situation in South Africa.

Put it in context, for decades Nelson Mandela was regarded as a terrorist when in reality we all know he was a freedom fighter. The situation was the same with Arafat and the PLO, and as nothing improved Palestinians became less secular, less Christian and far more radical. If Israel treated them fairly and humanely they would be as liberal and secular as Turkey or Lebanon, but they won't and never will until the rest of the world wakes up and demands it. Israel has been guaranteed a minimum 10 year ceasefire if they treat them fairly and I for one would back Israel if Hamas broke that agreement, but until they do right, Israel will always be wrong and they will just continue to steal land they don't own and destroy agriculture that sustains peoples livelihoods until Palestine is no more.

People like Silver are the worst kind of supporter for Israel. Un-educated and such belief in them that they refuse to even get the real facts.

People like Miko Peled are the best kind of Israelis as they know the truth and want the rest of the world to know it.

Sorry that is a bit ranty but I simply can't stand ignorance and refusal to self educate whilst trying to maintain a black is white argument from that position of ignorance.

This thread is a joke with people with no clue, just because they met a few people of one side they liked.

The majority do agree.

In fact Netanyahu’s popularity rivals Obama’s.

According to Polls in Israel, his party and now he himself are dropping in popularity. This isn't a question it is a fact of the latest polls two weeks before an election. This is in Israel...not in the United States where you got that soundbite from where Netanyahu rivals Obama amongst Americans.

Last time I looked Americans do not vote in Israeli elections.

Totally unbiased view there Dr. To be frank that was sarcasm.

You say unbiased, I say educated.

The fact you believe Israel is the land of the Jewish tribes because the Bible says so shows you believe in fairy tales rather than truth.

4th of 4 one line posts that added nothing to the discussion well done. You boosting your post count or having an educational discussion?

The anti-semitism argument usually is used by Israel itself to respond to any criticisms.

I'm starting to think that Sliver is Israeli, I just can't see why someone would be in such support of them otherwise.

Maybe he's a paid shill?;)

Edit: Just to clarify, that's sarcasm...

Well, whatever we think of Israel or Iran, we better hope for some good news or Israel absolutely WILL bomb Iran's nuclear facilities very soon...and then who knows what will happen.

No, they won't. Their tone will change after the elections.

No I'm not a shill :) I do have Jewish friends though and really value their friendship. We socialise sometimes and have interesting chats about the whole Israel Palestine thing and religion etc. So maybe that's why I'm a little pro Israel maybe ? Or maybe it's because on balance I honestly and genuinely feel that Israel is the lesser of the two evils in that conflict. I've always felt that way about it even before I knew any Jewish people.

I don't always agree with Sam Harris, and this video is no different, but he makes some good points here.

I saw you like Wikipedia so here is an article about UN sanctions and Israel/Palestine.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Israel

"As of 2013, Israel had been condemned in 45 resolutions by United Nations Human Rights Council since its creation in 2006—the Council had resolved almost more resolutions condemning Israel than on the rest of the world combined. The 45 resolutions comprised almost half (45.9%) of all country-specific resolutions passed by the Council"

This is who you support as a democracy, and their violations of human rights against people they are obliged to protect under international law.

Israel is rated as a flawed democracy bordering on hybrid regime. Not a full democracy like the US and UK.
