A report from Parliament’s Intelligence and Security Committee, released yesterday, calls on MI5 and MI6 to use websites like Mumsnet to recruit mothers looking to get back into the workplace.

Fantastic! Can you imagine an army of Mumsnet spies? Our enemies would tremble with fear. In all seriousness though, do you think they actually saw Mumsnet before saying that? As that's the last place I'd go to recruit stable, well adjusted individuals.

Women eh? lol

Where?

Recruit a secret army of letter box poopers?

Well people with a computers background would help more in the future. Letterbox poops is only a small part of the required talents.

The boxing abilities and ability to get armaments in under 10 minutes help considerably more.

No, they just know its a large female community which they think they have to appeal to and use as a bell weather for the female vote

Strikes me as a horrific job, imagine if you had to snoop on MN? Forced to read it as your job for eternity.

You know there's the secret weapon...

Target thinks he's being watched..
Mum sees she's been possibly rumbled, pulls out milk machines to feed baby,
Target tries to look everywhere else but at milk machines,
Target now satisfied that mum isn't a spy but was looking around before pulling out milk machines, carries on doing dodgy dealings.
Mum pwns Terrorist..
(humour)

Actually the mums network is a second degree observation network.. just like Facebook or OCUK.. where the members are the eyes and ears..

It wouldn't surprise me if there is someone, somewhere, keeping an eye on OCUK..

The stereotype of mumsnet users is pretty different from the stereotype of spies. For this reason, they will be fantastic at disguising themselves, but potentially useless.

Ms Blears said the need for MI6 officers to be able to deploy abroad – sometimes at very short notice – could also be a problem for women with children. “If you’ve got children, finding 24-hour childcare is often very difficult,” she said. The report suggests the agency should look at providing childcare services onsite.
At who's cost? Are the government going to start insisting that every company provides childcare?

Actual Report said:
Targeting specific groups of women to recruit.
The Agencies should explore groups other than graduates. Women or mothers in middle-age or mid-career, who may have taken some years out to bring up children,
may offer an untapped recruitment pool. The Agencies should use a broad range of mediums to advertise, including those specifically for women and mothers such as Mumsnet. The Agencies should examine their entry criteria. Many middle-aged women will have life experience but not necessarily the standard qualifications: which is more important?

Another non-story built up to be something it's not.
